Summary
Shauna’s grip falters, for a second; a weakness that Mari takes full advantage of. She takes the knife from her, hooks one leg behind Shauna's ankle to trip her, pushing her onto the forest floor. She can feel the leaves crunching underneath her body, twigs poking into her skin as Mari moves to straddle her.
“I always wanted to know how you felt. How it feels to be filled with so much hatred. I think I’m understanding it more now.” Shauna can feel Mari’s breath on her lips. She pushes her head up to kiss her but is stopped by a hand around her throat, pushing her back into the ground. “It’s the way you’re looking at me, Shauna. Like this isn’t what you wanted. What you dreamed about. It’s fucking infuriating.”
How does Mari know what she dreamed about?
She’s squeezing lightly, now, choking her. It feels almost like the bracelet Jackie had wrapped around her throat, before it started cutting her.

Akilah was right. The dream was a message.

Summary
“Hungry,” is all Mike manages to get out. Will can hear each ragged breath scuttle up and down his chest. He squints at Mike, the boy refusing to break eye contact, staring intently at Will. The emptiness from this morning is back.
Will scoots up in bed and shimmies out of his blanket cocoon, placing his hands on the sides of Mike’s arms. “Are you feeling sick?” he questions gently. Something’s not right.
Mike shakes his head and once again, opens his mouth with a brief pause before speaking. “I’m so hungry, Will.”
Mike gets a little too into the occult. After a ritual-gone-wrong, Will has to piece together a decades-old mystery to save his best friend's life.
