You didn’t see the two men standing up exchange a glance with each other when they saw how Eddie was treating you. Instead you met Eddie’s gaze. “Just relax. We’re gonna take care of you and get you to the hospital.”
You were silent for a moment, before you shook your head. “Dying.” You mumbled. “There’s no point.” Each word took you longer than normal to say, as you tried to breathe through the blood still pooling in your mouth. “Don’t have money, don’t have insurance, don’t have anywhere to go, don’t have anyone left.”
Eddie’s eyes hardened as he heard your words, and he shook his head. “You listen to me.” He said quietly, voice firm. “The no money, no insurance, that doesn’t matter. That’s all going to work out, trust me. As for somewhere to go, or someone to go to... you have me.”

Any self esteem Alison had once had a six-year-old was completely gone, and she figured it was never going to come back. Even if she ever had the chance to escape, she knew she wouldn’t take it. She was scared. Being here sucked, but what was outside was even scarier.
Alison was twenty-two, and had absolutely no life experience, or any skills whatsoever. If she were to escape, where would she go? What would she do? She had no job, no car, no license to drive a car, and no skills to get a job with. She had probably been presumed dead long ago, meaning she would no longer have a social security number or any real form of identity, meaning she was just… there. A ghost. “Baby girl, what do you call me?” He asks softly, bringing his thumb to rub over your cheek soothingly.
“Daddy.” You answer quietly, and you know you should be embarrassed that you call him that, but right then, you couldn’t bring yourself to care.
“That’s right, baby. Daddy. And do you know what daddies do?” You find yourself looking into his hazel gaze, unable to look away. His eyes are soft, and loving, not upset like you had expected them to be. When you don’t answer, Sam speaks again. “C’mon, darling. You know the answer. Daddies take care—”
“Take care of their babies.” You finally answer when he cuts off, once more feeling your cheeks starting to burn with embarrassment. But now you’re not sure if you’re embarrassed about wetting yourself, or if you’re embarrassed that you hadn’t just gotten Sam in the first place to come take care of you.
“Yes, sweetheart, daddies take care of their babies. And that means holding them through nightmares, or holding them through thunderstorms, or changing them when they go potty.”

When we had the doctor our agency is affiliated with check her over, he managed to find her chart and found that she’d gotten a traumatic brain injury a few months back. Her caretakers said she’d fallen down the stairs, but now knowing of their drug use, we have a feeling she was actually being abused for all this time, and possibly longer. Our doctor believes the traumatic brain injury was when she regressed.”
