“I dunno if you could fix this problem, buddy,” I say.
Rocky twists his carapace in a way I know means he thinks I’ve just said something stupid; it’s the Eridian equivalent of rolling his eyes. It’s an action I see a lot.
“How you know if I can fix or not if you not tell me problem, question?”
I chew on the inside of my cheek. He’s incredibly stubborn, I’ll give him that. For some reason, my cheeks burn with embarrassment.
“I want a hug."

Summary
The arrival at Erid is a momentous occasion. Rocky is excited and thrilled. Ryland is overwhelmed. But the reunion is happy, beautiful, amazing.
Or that's what it should have been. Except Rocky gets hurt, Ryland is left to try and communicate with an alien planet, and everyone is scrambling to figure out how to do this. To Grace, this is incredible but also bittersweet - he got Rocky home safely with the taumoeba, now he just gets... to starve. To Erid, this is insane - how did Rocky show up in an alien spaceship with a child???

Ryland Grace is stuck trying to speak Eridian, immediately makes himself sound like a child, and Rocky's world and family scramble to help this strange pebble. Misunderstandings galore, alongside hurt/comfort and angst and fluff.

In hindsight, this whole fiasco could have been avoided if I had run for the water the moment the lights went out. They wouldn’t have been able to reach me there. No way I could have known that at the time, but the thought kept surfacing again and again as I laid in the dark with nothing to do but sweat and think.
It started about a half hour after class ended for the day.
TLDR: Grace gets kidnapped.

Summary
Grace and Rocky’s unlikely friendship saved the day. They found the cure to save the stars. Their mission is done. Now, Grace thinks, they'll have to say goodbye.
But Rocky has seen the signs: regardless of what Grace thinks, Earth is not safe. It's a hard decision to make- but he will keep Grace from harm.
Even if it has to be against Grace's will.

Summary
Rocky and Adrian planned to see Ryland Grace safely settled on Earth and then go home. Instead, they’re staying to build a sixteen‑node interstellar communications relay and an ocean‑floor dome so Eridians can live on Earth.
Rocky loves the new challenges. Adrian sees “one more project” turning into “never going home,” while their offspring Kiri, hatched in space and growing up on Earth, already sounds more human than Eridian.
Meanwhile, Grace is deeply involved at the International Astrophage Coalition headquarters in Geneva, married, with a baby on the way. Everything’s perfect—except his insane schedule, which is going to give him a heart attack if he doesn’t slow down.
