Brill’s got his head on top of his jacket in her lap. It’s his favorite position, but they usually switch when they’re hanging out with the other couples. Once, though, they didn’t bother switching, and Melvin’s stupid, tiny ass made a joke saying it looked like Brill was the girl in their relationship. Brill had laughed it off and shoved the kid, because obviously, he’s not the girl, but then again. Then again, he's thought about that joke a little too often.

The phone rings again, somehow even more harsh, knocking Cherry out of her thoughts as she grabs the receiver. She clears her throat once to try and shake the sleepiness from it. “Sherri Valance speaking?”
On the other end was the sound of heavy breathing and a frantic voice that sounded like it was on the verge of tears. “Hello? Cherry, are you there?”
If Cherry didn’t know any better, she’d say it sounded like Paul. That can’t be right, though; Paul’s supposed to be driving back to school tonight, Bob had told her so earlier that night. Paul should’ve been in his dorm room by now; unpacking and getting ready for the new school week. She doesn’t have a clue in the slightest why he’d be calling so late; he must’ve been at a pay phone because Cherry could just vaguely remember him mentioning Paul’s car phone has been out of service for the past few weeks.
Or, Cherry overhears what happened to Bob and, well, she's not doing too hot. But, it's alright! She has Marcia and Beverly to help.
