Summary
Will takes a moment, hands clenched into fists at his sides, to rest his head against the grain of the wood and close his eyes. Here, with the solid weight of the door to ground him, he evaluates the facts: the war is over, Vecna dead and gone for good this time. Max is awake, reunited with Lucas and El at last, who both rushed to return to their places at her bedside the moment they knew. The rest of his family is upstairs, the rest of his friends alongside them, alive and mostly well and rejoicing in the fact that a years-long nightmare has finally reached its conclusion. It’s a night for togetherness, for celebrating hard-earned victories, for finally looking ahead instead of back over their shoulders.
It’s also a night where Will almost killed Mike.
In the midst of their final stand against Vecna, a possessed Will nearly strangles Mike to death. In the basement bathroom of the Wheeler's house after their victory, Mike and Will confront the aftermath.

Summary
“Hungry,” is all Mike manages to get out. Will can hear each ragged breath scuttle up and down his chest. He squints at Mike, the boy refusing to break eye contact, staring intently at Will. The emptiness from this morning is back.
Will scoots up in bed and shimmies out of his blanket cocoon, placing his hands on the sides of Mike’s arms. “Are you feeling sick?” he questions gently. Something’s not right.
Mike shakes his head and once again, opens his mouth with a brief pause before speaking. “I’m so hungry, Will.”
Mike gets a little too into the occult. After a ritual-gone-wrong, Will has to piece together a decades-old mystery to save his best friend's life.

Summary
“So weird,” Mike agrees, nodding, dark curls rustling against the pillow. “So, you haven’t like… replaced me?”
He says it almost like a joke, but it doesn’t feel like one. Will laughs anyway, incredulous.
“Replaced you?”
“I don’t know!” Mike protests defensively, eyes back on Will’s hands. “I just worry about that sometimes. That you’ll meet someone way cooler and better in Boston and you’ll like, move on from me, or something.”
He laughs a little at himself, but Will can feel that he’s serious and silently laces Mike’s fingers through his own, stopping Mike’s fidgeting. He waits until Mike finally looks up and meets his eyes.
“Mike,” he says quietly. “I’m never going to move on from you.”Will swears he's moving on, Mike Wheeler and the Christmas spirit just aren't letting him.

Summary
After playing his part in preventing the end of the world, Mike thought senior year would be a piece of cake. Compared to fighting monsters and keeping government secrets, how hard could it be to deal with regular family drama, looming college decisions and his suddenly blaring obsession with staring at his best friend?
It's a gradual realization that he may have never wanted the things he thought he did一and some things, he may have wanted all along.

Summary
“You always do that,” Mike whispered.
Will blinked. “Do what?”
“Pretend you’re fine right up until you’re not,” Mike continued. “Like you’re trying not to be a problem.”
Will scoffed, but it came out weak. “You’re projecting.”
“Am I?” Mike took a half-step closer. Close enough that Will could smell his soap, clean and familiar, layered with something warmer underneath. “Because from where I’m standing, it looks like we’ve both been tiptoeing around the same thing.”
Will swallowed.
Don’t, his brain warned.
