He wakes up the day after his parent's funeral, confused and baffled. He's got eight months to change the inevitable.

The papers were addressed to Mr. Syme and titled “Final Report.” He glanced back at Darry, who stared into the sink.
“Which page has you like this?”
“He just-- oh, Soda, he thinks--” tears began streaming down Darry’s face again. “He thinks I hate him."Or, where Soda finds Darry late at night after finding Pony's final English report.
