Summary
Frodo is dared by his friends to write a letter to the King Under the Mountain. Easy enough. It wasn’t like he was going to get anything back, the King was long dead, just like his Uncle Bilbo had told him countless times with each retelling of the adventure.
So one could imagine the young Hobbit’s surprise when he received a raven at his window with a sealed note attached to it’s leg.

Summary
Bilbo Baggins had long since accepted that the road ended in Rivendell.
He buried thirteen Dwarves.
He outlived everyone he loved.
He wrote the story, made peace with his grief, and prepared to sail West.
But the Valar are not yet finished with him.
A thread in the tapestry of time was severed long ago, and someone must mend it.
Bilbo awakens eighty-one years in the past, on the morning Gandalf knocks upon his door. This time, he remembers everything.This time, he intends to bring them all home.
Or: Bilbo gets a second chance. The Company gets one too.
