Summary
She’s touched him before — patted him on the back, brushed the sleep out of his eyes, leaned into that little one-armed side hug at the local district office — but never with this much of her body all at one time, the warmth of him radiating down from her head to her hips. She can feel the buttons of his jacket against her stomach, can feel his strength in a new, tangible way. He exists. He exists and he fits against her so well it’s like the universe had planned for her to need this hug.
“I thought I was left alone,” she confesses. The relief has loosened her so much it just falls out. But it doesn’t matter. She’s learning that Yi-hyun isn’t someone she needs to stay careful around.

They emerge out into the cool night air, her hand still in his. He’s ready to keep running, adrenaline still screaming through him, but his arm suddenly jerks backwards: Mok-ha, pulling him to a halt.
“Ki-ho-yah.”
And everything in him falls still.
Hearing her call him that name — it streaks through him like a shot of alcohol, an immediate, unsteadying heat.
He lets go of her hand. It’s not easy, after clutching on so tight: the skin sticks, her fingertips dragging across his palm.
“It’s you.” Her voice is shaking. “You’re Ki-ho, right?”
This entire time, he has never had to lie to her directly about who he is. He’s offered her his new name. He’s talked disparagingly of Ki-ho. But he’s never had to outright deny the boy he used to be, not in front of her.

Sieun leans back, hands propping himself up, fingers weaving through the grass. All around them, small flowers spring from the ground, with whisper-thin yellow petals, delicate as tissue paper, circling orange centres.
“Let’s not think about it,” he says.
And if Sieun isn’t worried, that’s enough for Suho.
“Okay, let’s talk about something else.”
While Suho recovers, he dreams.
