“Ollie–” the childhood nickname spills from his mouth, rough with disuse.
“I know, I know, ‘we were just kids messing around,’ ‘we were never like that’.” Oliver sips his drink, then winces. “It could have been, I think, maybe, but I didn’t mean it that way. Not entirely.”

Oliver blinked. “For my sixteenth?” He winced, thinking of the Audi—burnt rubber, twisted metal—”Me, I uh, I just got wasted, honestly.” Half of the truth, at least.
Bruce came to a halt, and Oliver turned to face him, expecting him to be withdrawn, muttering an apology and splitting for his dorm. But his tired eyes had a spark in them, for once, and he purposely stood up straighter, brow a line of determination. “That,” he said.
“That?” Ollie repeated, head tilting in confusion.
“Yes. I want to do that. What you did. Get wasted.”
