Summary
Jing Yuan is used to Ren coming and going. Ren had stayed the night and left in the morning per usual. Though Jing Yuan would not ask him for anything more than that, he did not expect the man to depart without, well, satisfying his usual needs.
Every time he visited, he came for two things: “to stake his claim,” and to remind himself that he had already won the fight to keep Jing Yuan in his life.
“It was worth remembering,” Ren had told him once.
And Jing Yuan believed him. It wasn’t easy to allow themselves the solace of each other at first.
But now Jing Yuan couldn’t get enough. He couldn’t care less if Ren needed the reminder every day of his life, because he would take whatever he could get.
Yet Ren left early today.
Jing Yuan is too used to his routine with Ren and gets needy while his boyfriend is literally in the next room over making breakfast.

In the Alchemy Commission, he dreams strange dreams.
“You look like you swallowed a frog.” Yingxing says as he makes some notes in the margin of his latest sketch - something that looks like a polearm or spear, from Jing Yuan’s vantage point at the other side of this table on the old man’s porch.
“How does that look different from swallowing any other supposed creature?” he returns. He feels odd. He should feel odd, after all.
Or, Jing Yuan dreams after the Phantylia attack. When he wakes up, it sort of becomes reality.

Summary
Jing Yuan, still freshly recovering from his injuries during the recent Phantylia Disaster, finds himself in a newly precarious position as the advisor and personal healer of the Merlin's Claw takes an interest in his health. For centuries he has been infallible, iron-clad, untouchable.
But when faced with the scrutiny of sharp eyes and the touch of burning hot hands, Jing Yuan rapidly finds all his carefully curated walls crumbling around him.
Perhaps though, vulnerability isn't so bad, not when he has such a merciful doctor attending to his every need.

Summary
Jing Yuan blinks, and the world around him tilts and morphs so quickly that he could almost mistake himself for having fainted if he wasn’t clearly still upright and standing. A look around the room they are currently in, and it only takes a moment for memory to kick in and recognise it as his master’s old estate.
Except… it doesn’t exist. Not anymore.
His beloved Dan Heng, who is still standing across from him, and who has always been considerably shorter than him, is now directly at his eye level. Judging by the horrified look he has on his face, he must have also come to the same conclusion.
(Or : In which a gift from Stelle sends Dan Heng and Jing Yuan tumbling into the past.
Turns out trying to act like a 700 year younger version of yourself is not nearly as easy as one thinks; and meeting your previous incarnation that hugely fucked up your current life isn’t so bad after all.)
