Sten met his eyes coolly, and perhaps in a testament to the toll the Deep Roads had taken on all of them, commented only, “It appears you do not inspire order and civility amongst your people, Grey Warden.”

Summary
The raspy-voiced Antivan looked unsettled and a bit disoriented, but at the mention of a contract he visibly gathered himself. “I can still work,” he responded in affirmation, almost as if reminding himself. Rook felt a twinge of familiarity looking at the man before him. Having a task when everything around you, including yourself, was falling apart. It was a lifeline.
(an exiled shadow dragon & a possessed assassin try to hold each other together at the end of the world. slow burn. skip to chapter 3 if you hate fun)

Summary
So, I want you to really immerse yourself in the scene here – you’ve had a long week, you’re a little cranky, you’re a picky eater. In fact, this is your first meal of the day, aside from countless cups of coffee. Your vibrating, exhausted brain just really needs this one indulgence. To put it frankly, if your tongue isn’t immersed in the comfort of thick, runny egg yolk in the next ten minutes, you’re going to snap. But hey, you’re a good guy. You pride yourself on your patience, your empathy, your resounding support for the daily turmoil of the average food worker… so you’re willing to be a good sport. But when the cook decides to play games with you – and really, why you? You didn’t do anything to warrant this! – you can’t really be expected to reign in your temper, can you? And boy, you’ve got a temper.
(aka: Enjolras is a picky eater. Grantaire is a bored cook. Unnecessary tension ensues. Told in first person, but I promise it's stylistic.)

Summary
One by one, members of the Veilguard pack up their things and leave the Lighthouse. For Lucanis, it means he must awaken from a hazy dream; he must return to Antiva, and to the oversight of his grandmother, to begin his training as First Talon. When he is asked the usual questions--aren't you glad to be home? Didn't you miss your old life?--he plasters on a smile and lies through his teeth.
(Or, the time Octavian came to visit the Villa Dellamorte and was promptly banned.)

Summary
And for all his running, Fenris knew debt was always something owed, never escaped. He had to repay it, the bed and the food and the large arms and gentle hands that had caught him just short from hitting the ground. Sorry if I feel a warped sense of responsibility, Hawke had said. Fenris could have died in that field and no one would have known. Fenris had told him he was alone. No one in the world would have cared. They still wouldn’t, if Fenris left into the night, if the knife in his pocket failed him.
Except for this strange man who had a lot of land and doorways and sofas made too small for him and friends who owed him favours that spoke volumes of his worth.
A farm, a runaway and a man with red across his nose and the sun in his eyes. Seasons change and the land and people with them.Bookmarked by teaspecs

Summary
“To live in this world you must be able to do three things: To love what is mortal; To hold it against your bones knowing your own life depends on it; and, when the time comes to let it go, To let it go.” (Mary Oliver)
Tavi grew up on a small, rural farm in the Tevinter Imperium. He and his family laboured for their daily bread; spent holy days at the local temple; and enjoyed the fruits of the seasons, living humbly but happily in their slice of paradise.
Then, a magister came through their little village. In his wake, he wrought upon Tavi's world a wave of misery worse than any blight.
Fifteen years pass. Octavian has clawed his way from the hellish imprisonment that had been thrust upon him, far colder a man than he had been when he first saw the walls of a cell. Imbued with vengeful purpose, he plans to seek justice for the wrongs committed against him: and if justice cannot satisfy him, he will settle for blood.
(Covers Tevinter Nights, Veilguard, and an epilogue.)
