Cody has wanted to be a ballplayer since she knew how to hold a bat. But life in Rockford, IL in the inaugural season of the All-American Girls' Professional Baseball League isn't exactly what she expected. The uniforms are dresses, there are regular hair and makeup sessions, and she's required to wear heels every time she leaves the house. Cody spends most of her time with Siri and Quinn, infielders who rack up fines for wearing trousers practically every day.
On the opposite end of the spectrum is Obi-Wan Kenobi, the team's ace pitcher. Her lipstick is always flawless, her curls are always just so, and she never seems to break a sweat, even when she's working on a perfect game. She and Cody make a perfect battery on the field, but Kenobi hardly looks Cody's way off of it.
That all changes the day Cody takes a cleat to the face.

After talking with some younglings about their anxieties around joining the clone army as commanders, Ahsoka decides to start a video series to alleviate their fears. Somehow, this saves the galaxy.

There are whispers amongst the vode that there’s more to the war than meets the eye. Conversations quickly shut down in fear of who’s listening. It’s no secret that the Galactic Republic is a highly corrupt government. After all, most senators are willing to look the other way as millions of men are forced into fighting this war without even given a proper name. Ahsoka wants to help her brothers, in any way possible, no matter how small. But small actions can lead to much bigger changes. A ripple affect through space and time that not even Palpatine can predict. Now, the clone troopers aren’t just fighting separatists. They’re fighting something much more complex. Much older. Much more powerful than even the Jedi are aware.

Obi-Wan tugs at the army-standard grey uniform that Cody keeps neatly uncreased, and his hand is on Cody’s neck and then his fingers brush against short dark hair, and Obi-Wan doesn't know which of them closes the distance so thoroughly. He pulls, but Cody lets himself fall; and then their mouths are on one another’s, and Cody’s nose is cold against Obi-Wan’s.
Or: Cody and Obi-Wan find comfort in each other during the war. Right after Obi-Wan realises that, on his part, there are feelings involved, Cody pulls away without explanation. And this, Obi-Wan decides, is fine, except for all the ways it isn't fine.

Inspired by many Thom Yorke interviews I've read/watched on the internet, this is an attempt to construct a character-sketch of a quintessential "Thom Yorke Interview" - but also very clearly inspired by a specific interview where Thom had such chemistry - such specifically sexual chemistry - with the interviewer that I wanted to explore that, and answer the question "What if they acted on that...?"
This story also contains alternate lifestyles, frank discussion of Asexuality, consensual but very rough and sometimes violent sex, paganism, folk dancing, wife-swapping, cheese-eating vegans, and also lesbians. Do not read if offended by any of this.
After some comment threads, I need to warn readers again, since the notes are ancient and quite light-hearted. This story starts off cute and intriguing, but it gets very intense very fast, and goes to some pretty dark places. I've been told by readers that this is a story that lives rent-free in people's heads for years, so please consider before reading.
