Summary
Robotnik has never seen anyone move like that. Outside of like an action film where the hero takes down 20 bad guys with guns with nothing but a pistol and nerves of steel. It’s not that Ivo couldn’t have handled the situation himself, but really, what was he paying Stone for if not to take care of this sort of nonsense for him?
Ivo was not expecting to be outright distracted by Stone’s badassery. Robotnik knew Stone's military history but seeing him in action is another thing entirely.
It's fucking hot is what it is.

Summary
Robotnik saw something in Stone the government couldn't. Potential, albeit trapped in human flesh. He didn’t need an attack dog. Didn’t need someone to spy on his behalf. All his arrogance and insults were worth the tiny smiles he'd give Stone when he did something useful. The most intelligent man to ever exist, who looked upon the human race like a lion looked upon an ant, appreciated something Stone did? A replaceable government lapdog? It was the first time in Stone's life he knew he was worth something. So what was he worth now?
Not for the first time, Stone prayed to whoever would listen. If there were flying foxes and hedgehogs faster than the speed of light, there must be something out there that could bring Robotnik back. He'd trade his soul, tear out his lungs, he'd give anything.
All Agent Stone wanted was his doctor back.

1. A sufficiently large detonation combined with a sufficiently large amount of Chaos Energy creates a wormhole through which one can travel (or be sucked at the last second) to a parallel universe relatively safely.
2. Earth seemed to stay pretty consistent across most universes.
3. It appeared that, after a life of self-imposed seclusion in the manner of a gizmo-ridden, super-genius, hermetic monk, when it came down to brass tacks, Dr Robotnik was hard-pushed to tell the difference between most Earths.Dr Robotnik jumps through universes to try and get back home, confronting his feelings for Agent Stone along the way.

However, Stone doesn't know this. He believes the Doctor to be dead and wants revenge. He wants to kill Sonic and his friends, believeing them at fault for the Doctor's death.
He'll do what Robotnik never managed to do- kill them and rule the world. And once he's done, Robotnik will be worshipped like he should. Stone will let nothing stop him.
