“You’re not getting married,” argues Shouto, arching a perfect eyebrow. “You don’t have to be made for each other. You’re just living in the same place.”
Wrong.

Midoriya’s throat goes dry, as he dips his spine to bow momentarily before he arises to match his gaze head-on. The motion must be surprising, at least somewhat, as the King’s mouth quirks at the corners and he settles his chin on his hands as he leans forward. “Your Highness,” Midoriya says through the bile rising in his throat, “My name is Midoriya Izuku. I—”
“I know who you are,” says the King. It’s almost a purr. “Your fights were brutal, real grizzly. Who taught you that, pretty boy? Ain’t you got something better to do with all your pretty magic, hah? ‘S a shame you didn’t get a real fight in there.”
Midoriya’s mouth fills with the taste of blood, angry and vengeful, as he refuses to back down from the King’s words. He’s suffocating in an instant—his chest constricts, his palms singing and growing red as he holds them tightly. The King is mocking him and Midoriya sinks his heel into the floor to stand his ground in response.

Katsuki first sees colors bloom when he is only three years old. It is timid Izuku, hiding behind the cover of his mother's leg who looks upon him with wide eyes, and Katsuki's world explodes in shades of greens and pinks and blues, and he is so startled, he begins to cry.
His life is then on defined in color, in shades his peers can't see, by the forlorn, timid stare in Izuku's eyes that always lets off more than he is willing to tell. There is a schism driven between himself and his fated other, and Katsuki strives to be better than fate, better than what is defined for him. He is more than the written pages of a book, to be cracked open and read by the gods.
He wonders if it is possible for colors to bloom for someone who will never love you back.
