Summary

“I wish that our clan isn’t at war,” Hashirama tells Madara quietly, eyes fixed on the treeline past the river. No man’s land and Uchiha territory. The worst of the battlefields. “If there was peace, Anija wouldn’t have to fight. I know he’s strong, but it hurts him every time. He’s really sick. Every time he leaves to fight, he comes back worse.”
Madara doesn’t say anything. Not right away. He skips a few more stones across the river, back tense, and abruptly he folds down to sit next to Hashirama. He fiddles with his cuffs. “Izu-nii hasn’t been the same since he started fighting either,” he admits, voice gruff. “Not since Nee-chan died.”

Summary
The first time Hashirama sees the Hiraishin in action, he hardly knows what it means, let alone what it is. Tobirama tries to explain, but all Hashirama knows is that his brother is there one moment and gone the next, more elusive than the smell of petrichor during Fire Country's summer season. Still, Hashirama is nothing but resilient like the trees he so easily bends to his will, and there is something important in the little kunai and its seal.

Summary
Tobirama is — resplendent, in an argument. Obnoxious, too, but Madara generally finds Tobirama’s worst qualities to be more attractive when aimed at a third party. There’s a steel-cut sharpness to how he debates, an unblinking patience in how he lets his opponent talk just enough to hang themself before launching a counterattack. He’s like that in combat, too — though Madara doesn’t expect to see him fight in earnest for, possibly, the rest of their lives.
Tobirama says, often enough, that if Madara has the time to feel guilty, he has the time to make sure the eggplants don’t die. Hashirama has claimed that he’s only given them plants that a particularly bright toddler could grow — which doesn’t bode well for the two of them, considering the state of the vegetables in the greenhouse.
Madara replies that Tobirama can talk when he learns how to feed the chickens on time. You’d think that the inventor of several dozen jutsu could do chores at the same time every day, but apparently not.
Tobirama rolls his eyes and tells him that birds always like Madara better, anyway.
