“Uh, Stiles?” Scott asks, sounding concerned, which isn’t unusual because it’s Scott and Scott’s default mode is—well, alright, Scott’s default mode is dumbstruck by whatever beautiful girl he’s somehow managed to land, but ‘concerned’ comes in at a close second, but even if it’s not unusual, Scott being concerned is concerning because there’s absolutely no reason for him to be concerned unless he knows that Stiles hasn’t actually changed his sheets in weeks and also has developed enough of a thing about hygiene that he’s worried about that, which is super unlikely because (a) Stiles’ sheets don’t even smell or have any weird stains, aside from the year-old one from where he spilled chocolate on his bed, and (b) Stiles is willing to bet that Scott hasn’t changed his sheets for months, so he’s definitely not going to get up in arms about Stiles’s sheets, which, by the way, Stiles is totally going to wash when he has time.
“Yeah?”
“Why is there a half-naked man in your room?”

Stiles just looks at him. Studying him. Eyes slowly narrowing like he thinks he’s lying. The hand holding his mother’s conduit drops to slide inside his pocket. And then he just stares down at Derek. Addressing him.
“Why are you here, wolf? This close to The Wall, this close to Samhain? You must have a death wish.”
“Just,” Derek’s eyes slip shut and he exhales heavily through his nostrils, “Just take me to the hunters.”
A beat.
“Even I’m not that big of an asshole.”

Derek stared- no words leaving him as his eyes roved over the bare skin and the art that adorned it. The lithe muscles of his abdomen were inked with thick, Celtic knotwork as well as more animals- both mystical and humane- and the biggest of all, resting right above his heart and seeming to glow against the pale skin: the Hale triskelion.
Stiles returns from college and spark-training to see his favorite Sourwolf and the pack- covered in tattoos. And Derek is...sharply curious. And in the end, entirely helpless.
