Glimpses into lives in progress.
Story 54: At this point Rick took an actual look at Evelyn, standing there soaked to her skin in a white silk nightgown. He looked, and looked away just as quickly.

Summary
Thursday evening, home for the weekend: sometimes Evie really appreciated that her work week only consisted of four days. No more work until Monday, which meant no more lifting and lugging books off of the floors and up ladders and onto their proper shelves. At least she had help: she had not asked him to, but Rick appeared at breakfast every morning to walk her to work and help with the clean-up. Evie rather liked watching him work: he had such a splendid physique; she often found herself distracted by him. It was just one of the perks of being with Rick O’Connell. He was a good man and he was beautiful to look at.
A really rather pointless wallow in two people who love each other learning more about the other.

Rick stood over her, tall and muscular with his trousers loose and open around his waist, and lust washed through Evie at the look in his eyes.

Summary
Rick O'Connell is shanghaied into helping Hub and Garth McCann to rescue a Princess. He gets rather more than he bargained for in the attempt. Fix-it fic/AU for both films.

Summary
Somewhere on the track between Zurich and Salzburg, the train slowed to a crawl. Snow poured down out of the sky in angry white sheets; wind buffeted the train back and forth as it crept along the track, mile by painful mile in the whiteout.
“Well,” Evie said, turning away from the window of their compartment, “I don’t think we’ll be reaching Salzburg on time.”
“Shame,” Rick replied. “I was so looking forward to climbing in the Alps.”

Summary
Jonathan woke up quite abruptly at ten past seven in the morning. The sun was almost up and the light filling the Fort Brydon flat was soft and blue and comfortable, exactly the kind of light that Jonathan liked to roll over and go right back to sleep in. But his bladder, after twelve hours of unbroken sleep, had other ideas. And where had Rick O'Connell gotten to?

Summary
A collection of erotic snapshots.
Story 4:
Evie took Rick’s hands and held them straight down at his sides.
“There,” she said, looking up at him with her glowing green eyes quite black with lust. “Your hands stay there until I say you can move them. All right?”
Rick nodded, drawing in a deep breath. The game had started innocuously enough, with Evie posing for photographs around the house for the class that Rick was taking, which had somehow led to the present moment when Evie began to shed her more and more of her clothes and somehow ended up quite naked before him. He had stopped taking photographs then, and now they were here, alone in the house and not a stitch of clothing between them.

Summary
It was late, nearly midnight, when Rick and Evie returned home from dinner at Mena House: late, and nearly all of the lights were off save for a low light over the back door. Rick parked Jonathan’s car in its lane at the side of the house and turned to Evelyn.
“Thank you for a great night,” he said, giving her that cheeky grin. “Shall I walk you to the door?”
Evie smiled. “Doesn’t a gentleman always see his lady friend safely home?”
A companion piece to "In the Gardens at Mena House".

Summary
The acceptance letter from Somerville College, Oxford, had arrived in the post that morning, offering Evie a place to study for her D.Phil in ancient Egyptian linguistics, and Evie was euphoric. Rick loved it when Evie was euphoric. Her joy was contagious and she was so beautiful. They had broken out a bottle of very expensive champagne to celebrate, and Evie had gotten rather carried away. She didn’t drink often, but when she did…

Summary
Rick awoke on a straw mattress in a squalid prison cell with the worst hangover he could remember having in, well, a while. It took him some time to remember how he had come to be there, nursing a head that felt far heavier than the rest of his body. He remembered, vaguely, a bottle of vodka drunk neat at the bar of a not-quite-respectable tavern.

Summary
It seemed incredible, after all of the stress and toil and terror of the past week, that they could be safe and sound at one of the swankiest hotels in Egypt. But Alex had, that morning, requested that they go swimming, and after all that he had been through, neither Rick nor Evie could deny him anything. And so here they were, ducking in and out of the water and laughing.
Rick was not laughing. He couldn't. It was as if he had been encased in glass and any sudden movement would cause him to shatter.

Summary
She had left Rick and Jonathan to their own devices after Dr. Wilkinson had looked them all over earlier that day; he had prescribed plenty of water and rest after their long, hot trek back from Hamunaptra. Opening her bedroom door, Evie looked around for the men. Jonathan’s bedroom door was closed; he was probably napping. Rick was where Evie had left him earlier, lying on his cot by the window with a couple of ice packs soothing his cracked ribs, head cushioned on a stack of pillows, a book in hand. He looked up as she came into the room.

Summary
It was a cold, wet day the day they left Oxford, bundling into the car that was Rick’s pride and joy to head back to the Big House for the break between terms. It was an unseasonably cold spring. Rain had poured from the sky for days, thoroughly axing Evie’s hopes of sunny country walks and making both of them pine for the hot, dry heat of Egypt. Evie gave her bags a last once-over as she buttoned her thick woolen coat. Bother this cold. She wore thick stockings and boots under her grey woolen skirt and green jumper, had smooth kidskin gloves up to her elbows and a scarf around her neck, and she still felt wretched. But that had nothing to do with the cold and everything to do with the tiny spark deep in her belly. Rick, picking up the bags, gave her a look.

Summary
Rick was standing in Evie’s office, contemplating a paper in his hand, when Jonathan entered the room.
“I say, old chap, where is everyone? This place is a tomb if you discount the tourists.”
Rick raised his eyes, distracted. “What? Oh, uh, staff meeting. With Professor Emerson. Evie thinks it’ll go until four.”

Summary
The Thing That Lives Behind the Radiator didn't always live behind the radiator. Once, a long time ago, it lived in a seaside mansion in a place that was warm and sunny and that knew how to take care of household spirits. Once, a long time ago, it received offerings of honey cakes and wine and in return it looked after the family.

Summary
Someone was tapping Rick’s face, an obnoxious staccato pat pat pat.
“Rick! Wake up, old chap, come on.” Jonathan’s voice, from very far away. Pat pat pat on his face. “Rick O’Connell, you wake up right now!” Pat pat pat.
Rick shied away from Jonathan’s insistent pats and groaned as pain, white hot and tinged with pink, seared through his head. Jonathan patted his face again, and when he spoke he sounded encouraged.
“That’s it, Rick, wake up, come on. Open your eyes. Can you hear me?”

Summary
Carnahan House is big and old and full of unused rooms; it is the perfect place for a game of grown-up hide and seek. Evie is hiding, tucked into an alcove behind a curtain, stifling her laughter. Rick tracks her through the long gallery, moving quietly, eyes gleaming.
