“I don’t know how you do it, Kirishima.”
The voice caused Bakugou to stop on his way to the kitchen. He turned his head instinctively, even though he couldn’t see Kirishima or Kaminari or anyone else that was potentially in the common room to take part in the conversation. Still, something about the tone made him pause, made him curious.
“Do what?” Kirishima’s voice held a genuine curiosity, and Bakugou could easily imagine the look on the boy’s face as he turned to his friend.
“Date Bakugou.”
Their classmates don't understand why someone like Kirishima would date someone like Bakugou. Bakugou pretends that the insinuations don't get under his skin, and Kirishima makes it his mission to make sure Bakugou knows just how much he means to him—and he makes sure their friends know it, too.

“I’m in love with you,” Bakugou said, trying to emphasize his meaning. But Kirishima understood. He always did, whether or not Bakugou put it into words. It had taken time and practice and patience, but he liked to think that, at this point, he had gotten very good at understanding.
“I know,” he said, and he shuffled forward on his knees, leaning over the edge of the bed, resting his elbows on the blankets. He looked up at Bakugou. “Katsuk—”
“No, wait,” Bakugou cut across firmly, shaking his head. “Shut up.” He closed his eyes, catching himself. “I mean… stop.” He inhaled sharply through his nose. “Just… let me…"
Kirishima watched Bakugou as he struggled with the words, and he quickly understood. This was one of those moments.
Kirishima expresses and understands love best through words of affirmation. Bakugou does his best to speak his language.

Katsuki doesn’t have anything to say to that. Kirishima’s right. Neither of them has ever been the type to run from a fight and Kirishima, especially, is undyingly loyal.
Katsuki’s argument isn’t anywhere near as noble. It’s selfish, cut clean and dry. He knows that Kirishima holds himself to the same standards that Katsuki holds himself to, that he needs to win, needs to know that he did everything in his power to help other people.
But Katsuki needs Kirishima to come home safe.

Eijirou brought his hands to his head and groaned.
Waking up from cryosleep was always nasty business, but he’d gotten used to it after being put under a few dozen times. Back home, it had been a controlled process, with a whole crew of scientists monitoring him as the cryochamber systematically thawed him and woke him up in stages.
But this time, the ship had overridden that process, thawing him much too quickly and forcing him awake to flashing lights, a blaring alarm, and the words “HYDRAULICS SYSTEM FAILURE'' blinking red on the piloting screen. He’d had no choice but to pilot the ship to the nearest planet, through an unfamiliar atmosphere, before crashing and then stuttering to a halt on rocky terrain.
Hopefully, this was the right planet. A nice, habitable planet. One with air and water and optimal atmospheric conditions.
Astronaut Kirishima ends up stranded and alone on an uninhabitable planet. As his supplies dwindle and his sanity slips away, he finds help from an unlikely source.

Bakugou snatches the paper Todoroki offers from his hands, gaze landing on Room Assignment: Cabin 23. What the fuck.

“…why?” Bakugou asked. He had no idea where this was going, but judging by Kirishima’s body language, it wasn't anything good. “Shh,” he tried, heart racing and thoughts going every which way. Kirishima hiccupped as he took deep breaths, obviously trying to calm himself down. Jesus, Bakugou wasn't good at this. He didn't know what to do when his boyfriend was falling apart so completely in his arms. Almost desperately, he resumed petting the redhead, scratching gently at his scalp and running his hand along his arm. Added a kiss for good measure. “Listen, are you sure you're okay with telling me? Because it’s fine if—”
“He touched me.”
Bakugou has never doubted his love for Kirishima, or vice versa. Even when Kirishima seems to never be in the mood anymore, Bakugou is determined to mend the divide between them and help his boyfriend through whatever is making him cry like it's the end of the world.
Or the end of theirs.

“I’m not,” Kirishima retorts, quickly brushing down his shirt, dusting it off and straightening out the creases. He's trying to hide it, but the strain he's under is obvious, his bones quaking from the overexertion. Bakugo doesn’t mean to be rude, but he looks awful- not unattractive awful, but looks like he’s about to faint kind of awful; endurance training can only get you so far if you’re ripping yourself apart and trying again before you’ve healed, and though he knows Kirishima knows this, he just isn’t stopping.
"Bakugo, I'm not going to break, just blast me."
Bakugo wonders, if Kirishima’s eyes weren’t hardened too, if he would be crying.
Maybe they should take a break from sparring for today.

Bakugo nearly falls through the door when it opens. Kirishima, Red Riot, comes into focus, and his eyes flash with fear, maybe a little worry before masking themselves back into the stone-cold red that Bakugo’s used to seeing. Maybe the concern was just a trick of the light, maybe something that Bakugo’s adrenaline-infused mind just made up.
He could kill me easily, Bakugo thinks. Or he could just let me die.
But as his pain-addled mind debates those outcomes as well as it can, Kirishima is doing none of those things, and is hoisting him up gently so Bakugo’s weight can comfortably rest on him as his feet lift off of the floor.
“Who got you?” Are the words out of Kirishima’s mouth, soft yet filled with anger; and then, quieter: "I'll kill them."

Bakugo’s hands stay holding him tight as Eijirou continues to cough, the petals finally dislodging themselves from his throat and falling to the floor, surrounding their feet in a halo of pearl-white flowers.
Eijirou doesn’t think he’ll ever be able to look at white roses again.
...Even if they’re Bakugo’s favourite flower.
