Summary
"Yes." Erwin finally breathes out.
At his answer, Levi's hands shift on his skin, staring longingly at his freckles, like stars in a painting. He thinks his heart is moving a million beats per minute, perhaps even faster than the best stallion they have. The whole world could probably hear the sound of his chest banging against his ribcage as it waits to burst open. But he doesn't care anymore.

Summary
Erwin Smith was willing to give up his life, so he didn't really mind losing his arm. Losing his mind, however, was more than he could possibly bear. His resulting isolation was crafted, deliberate, and meant to be permanent.
He never could have planned for the voiceless boy that the storm washed ashore...even if he wasn't quite convinced the boy was real.

Summary
“You really think that?” Zeke asks him, quietly. “Despite all the evidence of your own eyes. Despite Kenny’s testimony, despite the obvious parallels between your Captain and Mikasa’s faithfulness to their hosts, you choose to ignore it.”
“No one is born for anything, Zeke,” the Commander spits. “I’ve told you, time and time again. Levi was not born a slave anymore than you were born to be King, just because of your blood.”

Canon-divergent AU. Kenny survives and is convinced by Erwin to support the Survey Corps in Shiganshina. Everyone lives, including Zeke, who’s dragged back to the Walls kicking and screaming. Experiments and politics ensue.

Summary
His knees hurt from sitting on the tile; his head hurts from the nonstop pounding; his entire body is sweating profusely while also feeling as though it’s about to freeze to death. He sheds his dress shirt and tie before stumbling through the doorway to the bed and collapsing, curling up into a ball. The uncomfortable feeling of his sheets touching skin is reviling, but overpowered by the sheer fatigue dragging his soul down.
Akechi falls asleep to the sound of his own heavy breathing. The messy, quiet apartment might as well be housing a corpse instead of a human being.
Or, Ren nursing Akechi back to health.

Summary
The first letter is soft and humiliating at the same time. The second letter is a ketchup-stained napkin. When the third one comes, written on coffee-scented paper, Goro already knows the reason. The stranger writes to him, more often than he should: he talks about crimes, cats, and questions that can’t be answered—and it’s haunting, really, how similar he is to the brilliant boy Akechi Goro never stopped loving.
