Foolish enough to open up about his own hopes and dreams.And for all of Gary’s foolishness, Pawbert felt even worse- because the snake’s earnest, unexpected offer of companionship was steadily cracking apart the resolve he’d built his entire plan on.
And worse, something unfamiliar had begun to take its stead.

Pawbert ruined his family's reputation, and he doesn't think things will get better for him even after they're all released from a humiliating few days in jail. When his father calls him to his office, he expects to be disowned, or worse, but he finds himself in his father's lap, instead. Milton Lynxley is planning to keep his son on a tight leash from now on, pushing their relationship into a darker path than Pawbert ever imagined. Was this what he wanted all along, or is it too much for him to handle?
Once Gary gets in contact with him Pawbert will have to decide if he really does want to be different and run away with the snake this time, or if he's going to let himself sink forever into the embrace of the twisted Lynxley family.

It's been 3 months since the Lynxley family was revealed to be a bunch of dirty, lying felines who had stolen the credit for the founding of Zootopia, from the snake, Agnes De'Snake. Reptile Ravine has just recently reopened, and the reptile community within Marsh Market is flourishing.
Inside his new home, Gary De'Snake finds himself with too much time and quiet to think. He's missing a warmth he wasn't even sure was real to begin with. He thinks about the hands that held him warmly, and the same hands that threw him into the cold to die.
Pawbert Lynxley sits in a cell trying not to let his mind tear itself apart, thinking of the time ago when he had the temporary comfort of a strange reptile, and the option to betray his own plan in order to keep it. Instead, he followed through, in order to gain approval from a father who might then love him. And now, he had neither.
