He needs to leave this place, run somewhere, and save his apology to Morgana in the morning. He will figure something out in the course of running, because his mind will somehow think of a better solution in processing the cruel truth of his heart.
Or maybe not.
Leaning right next to a closed antique store at two in the morning is Goro Akechi. Unchanging, save for how he lets his cigarette fall before he crushes it with his heel.

Summary
At first, the apartment is dimmed: the low, ambient light setting. If Goro did not wear his prescription glasses, he would have stumbled. He can make sense of some order: a dining table with more flowers than it normally has, a clean kitchen counter… There are small boxes tied with ribbons on the couch, too.
Then, his boyfriend appears in front of him. He looks unusually kempt today: slightly styled hair, a fancy sweater, and, well, Goro would be a liar if he didn’t think he was handsome.
“Happy birthday, Goro. I’m happy you’re here.”
(or: Goro reflects on his life on his 27th birthday over Ren’s nicely planned dinner. He concludes that he is loved.)

Summary
Before Ren went to Tokyo, the people in Inaba liked him. In the jigsaw puzzle that was all of Inaba’s inhabitants, he fit in just like all the rest of the pieces.
When Ren came back from Tokyo, the people in Inaba held him at a distance, regarding him with fear and hatred. He was a tossed aside puzzle piece, a spare that didn't fit in with the picture.

Ren does not have a good life after going back to Inaba, maybe he'll decide to fix it if he can even muster the will.

“Come on, Ren-kun,” Yukari nudges Ren as he slumps. “I dove into being Pink Argus with little experience myself, and I haven’t regretted it since. Maybe you’ll feel the same.”
Ren thinks about it. His life really couldn’t and shouldn’t revolve completely around the shadow world, he supposes. And he’s not obligated to do any more than this if acting doesn’t agree with him after all.
Ann’s going to freak. Futaba is going to lose her shit.
“You remember the Phantom Thieves of Hearts business a few years back?” The director asks. “It won’t be a complete one to one, but I do have to admit that this series’ plot is loosely based on it.”
Okay, now that’s just unfair. Now Ren has to take the role.
So that’s how Ren becomes a Featherman Ranger.
Or, Amamiya Ren becomes a Featherman actor, bases his character off Akechi, and the real Akechi Goro disastrously simps from afar.
