Max gasps and nudges El, “Uh… wow.”
Lucas frowns, “Hey!”
“I didn’t say anything!” Max quips back, but she’s still gripping El’s arm as they both give the guy an eyeful.
“I’ll say something,” El buts in, grinning, “That guy is very hot.”
Will, a few steps behind them, mutters, “Here, here.”
Mike groans, “Not you too, Will.”
Will just smiles sheepishly but his voice is easy, “What? I can appreciate a good-looking guy."

Will smiles encouragingly at him, swiping his tears away and kissing his forehead again. "Let's make a deal, okay?" he murmurs, voice low and full of a bittersweet sort of hope. "If in five years we're both doing better, and we're not dating anyone else-" Mike blanches at the concept of dating anyone else, of Will dating anyone else- "we can try again, okay?"
Five years sounds like a terribly long time. In five years, Mike will be twenty-three. He'll be done with college, will have a career, could be living anywhere in the world for all he knows, and the same goes for Will.
But five years is a whole lot less than forever, so Mike will take it.
In the summer of 1989, Mike and Will fall apart. Five years later, they fall back together.

Will released a shaky exhale, overwhelmed and hot all over. “I’m—I’m sorry, I—”
“Don’t,” Chance choked out, pressing their foreheads together. “Don’t say anything, or I’ll—fuck, I don’t even know. Just…tell me to stop.” Then quieter: “Please, or I’m going to do something insane.”
The summer of ‘87 was an eventful one, to say the least.

"Chance bit the inside of his lip. Truthfully, part of him believed Jason’s Hellfire theory was a desperate story fueled by the grief of losing Chrissy, but the more Chance watched Hawkins fall apart, literally, the more he felt his old logic snap into place. After losing two of his friends in the Hawkins “earthquake,” Chance joins a church grief group that believes Will Byers is the vessel for Satan. To prove them wrong, Chance agrees to befriend Will, but the closer he gets, the more the lines between faith, fear, obsession and love start to blur.
