CHAPTER 4 BACK IS NEW. UPDATED ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2020
Post season 6, canon compliant story where Quinn survives season 6 finale and, with some help, manages to get a chance at that elusive normal life he's always wanted. Away from the Agency and the missions, for a little over three years he's been working hard to rebuild his health, keep a job, and try to live out the rest of his life doing some good, with no hope or agenda aside from finding a small, well-deserved measure of peace.
That is until something happens, and he realizes he was a fool to believe he could escape the pull of the darkness. Reassured once again he has no place among normal people, he's determined to go back to the person he was before, leaving everything he's built in the last three years behind. He does so believing he's keeping a promise to an old friend. Until he realizes he's been trying to keep the wrong promise, and is forced to stay, step up, face his demons, and deal with them.

In this AU... oh, screw it. This is not really an AU. It's a canon based flash forward, so to speak. Starting at the end of season 6, skipping pretty much anything that can happen in seasons 7 and 8, this is a story that happens almost 16 years later, a tribute to some people whose personal tragedies have been sidelined by the show, and are still being sidelined as we speak.
It's one young man's quest to find out the truth about a father he never knew, where it leads him, the things he discovers about the people in his father's life, and, along the way, about himself and his own family.
