Summary
The world is not kind to the quirkless. Jobs are scarce and prejudice is common. There is, however, a lucrative underground economy where having a quirkless body can be valuable asset. Rody Soul is not quirkless, but he pretends to be to support his family.
When Rody is assaulted on the way home after a night of turning tricks, he turns to an advocacy group to protect himself. There, he meets a quirkless rights activist known only as Deku. After learning Deku’s story, he falls for him. Yet Rody is not the only one who loves Deku, and his bad decisions send his new boyfriend on a collision course with a powerful man who just might know Deku better than he does.

In the dream, he does it right. He lets the assholes go. He lets them fly off to fucking fairyland and leave the rest of humanity to die in mounds of promotional t-shirts nobody ever wore and colliery spoil tips and Bratz dolls. He’s able to palpate the part of himself that bays for their blood, pare it away, and cauterize the wound. It rots somewhere, left behind in a footstep he doesn’t care to count. He has better things to do.

It was wildly inappropriate to use a Quirk like mine on someone without good reason, which was expressly limited to villain apprehension, teaching, and rescue operations. I knew that. I was dutiful to my social obligation of not making others uncomfortable with the nonconsensual use of my Quirk during personal interactions. It may not be my fault it happened as a matter of course during sex, but it was my responsibility to make sure I didn’t let it affect those I was with. The first couple times I took a new partner to bed, it was typically a non-issue. The unfamiliarity of the physical exchange was enough to overrule the emotions I felt for them. However, any more times beyond that, it was something I had become very skilled at masking. For their sake.
By now, because it just so happened Toshinori was a partner unlike any other I’d known and I was already comfortable expressing my love for him, even if we hadn’t yet said so in words, there were rarely times I could look at him at all when we had sex anymore because I knew my feelings for him meant my Quirk was activating.
