Summary
Despite what Kaveh thinks, he’s the only person Alhaitham listens to, and the people of Sumeru have started to catch on.
Or, five times Kaveh asks the acting Grand Sage for a favor, and the one time Alhaitham asks for something in return.

Summary
Lights flare blindingly bright all around him, and his vision blurs as his eyes water without his permission. Swallowing down another drink, he clamps his eyes shut, trying to lose himself to the music blasting too loudly around him. It's been a while since he's let himself get so weak. He knows he should at least feel something, shame or sadness, but all he has room for in his head is the bitter taste of bourbon on his lips. He takes another sip, and then all that's left is melting ice.
It's just another messy night filled with an embarrassing string of mistakes, and Aventurine is sick and tired of self-destructing alone.

Summary
It was one fateful, rainy evening that Aventurine walked into an unknown coffee shop. It was late, he needed something to help him get through the night's work... And it turned out that his caffeine came with something he hadn't realized he needed: lectures, banter, and real, genuine companionship. In short, it was Dr. Veritas Ratio that he'd really needed.

Summary
Ratio didn’t respond, instead brushing the hair from Aventurine’s eyes so tenderly that it hurt. Aventurine should have known Ratio wouldn’t be so easily distracted. Ratio cupped Aventurine’s face, looking him in the eye like a lover. Like an equal.
Aventurine had to blink back tears.
“Aventurine,” Ratio said, soft, sincere. But then, Ratio was always sincere with him when it counted, “Dearest.”
That nickname. It was stupid to get so emotional over it. And yet.
Aventurine took a shuddering breath, “Yes?”
His heart was pounding almost painfully. He cared about Ratio way too much.
Ratio held him like he was everything and said, “You need more friends.”
In which, at Ratio's insistence, Aventurine tries to make some friends.
