“Are you kidding me!?” Marius curls into a ball, throwing his tail over his face. He knows they can’t understand what he’s saying, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still whine. “That’s how big I was last time I shifted, when I was fifteen! I didn’t grow a single inch!”
“He seems…upset,” Artem needlessly informs everybody.
“Perhaps it’s because he was expecting to look more fearsome,” Vyn hums.
“Awww, is somebody throwing a tantrum ‘cuz he’s tiny?” Luke crouches down with a grin, “‘Cuz he’s an itty bitty lizard?”
Marius surges forward and bites his hand.

Marius was gonna tell the team eventually about the whole “my family has carried the magic of the legendary Aquarian Serpent in our blood for centuries. Also, I can turn into that magical serpent.” But he never found the right moment.
Then a case goes awry and traps Marius in his serpent form. Fucking typical.

Vyn hesitates to say anything further, then figures he might as well. There isn’t anyone else around to ask, anyway. “Excuse me, your… plantness,” Vyn begins. “Could you be so kind as to tell me where I am?”
“You’re there,” the flower answers helpfully.
“There?”
“Yes, if I’m here then you must be there. It’s very simple.”
With an answer like that, Vyn begins to get a sneaking suspicion as to where the looking glass has brought him.

It took you everything not to start crying, even though it was all you desired at that moment. You were just a few inches away from stomping and whining like a little child who didn’t get the sweets they wanted. How pathetic of you, honestly, that losing a case elicited such a reaction within you.
Then again, you felt it was justified, because what kind of cruel deity had put you against Artem Wing not once, not twice, but thrice? You were only a rookie lawyer as well, just learning the ropes.
Or, it's not like you hated Artem Wing, you just thought he needed to stop destroying your arguments in court.

“You do know that depression is treatable,” Vyn says.
“It’s not like treating it will do me any good,” Luke says softly. “I’ve only got three years left.”
“That’s three years left to be happy, but...” Vyn looks at Luke, and in his gaze, there is something like sympathy, something like care, but Luke can’t give a damn about that when Vyn rips him apart with his next words. “...but you don’t think you deserve it, do you?”
“Vyn—”
“Why are you punishing yourself?”
And Luke doesn’t know why he tells the truth. Maybe it’s because he wants to make the sentiment real, because if it’s real, then he can finally, finally commit to it.
Defeated, Luke says, “Because I’m going to hurt her. One way or another, I’m going to hurt her, with this, and that’s unforgivable.” Luke looks down, not able to look Vyn in the eye. “I need all the penance I can get.”

Summary
Rosa capably understood that many things in life are in her grasp to discover. It was, after all, experiences that create the abundance of life. Justice, humbleness, and hard work. Three foundational aspects of life. However, through her own trials, (no pun intended), and unexpected events, there seemed to be another force.
Enter one, Dr. Vyn Richter. From the very slanted fault of meeting in such an interesting way, he had become a staple in the circumference of her life. The oddity of his rare quality to sniff out human nature was awe-inspiring and inhuman.
However, this Doctor was a man, nothing more. Rosa knows he’s extraordinary by nature, but through delicate unraveling, how far does he go to cover his deficits. Why? Why would he ever want to when the beauty isn’t in perfection or efficiency always, but sometimes in the flaws that make our hearts thum to the same beat?
