“Have you ever heard about the origami hearts tradition in the hospital?”

Taking the heart, the child excitedly inspected it, nodding in glee. “Yes! My mama told me that when someone leaves the hospital to go to heaven, we all fold a paper heart for them! Like this, like this!”

“That’s right,” chuckled Soobin. “But do you know how it started? It started here, in this room. From a boy who used to fold a paper heart every day for his lost love, hoping each one he makes will take him closer to the day those eyes would open again.”

"Unfortunately for him, the day never came."

In other words, a hopeless love story of two childhood best friends who didn't realise what it meant to have each other until it was too late; compiled of yearning, loss, forlorn hope, unrequited love, and every tragedy in between.

“Do you know who I am?” He waited for some flash of recognition, maybe a flicker of disgust that would confirm that Jay remembered who he was.

“Did it hurt?” Jay mumbled, still looking at him in awe.

    Sunghoon blinked. “What?”

A loopy grin bloomed on Jay’s face, and Sunghoon felt apprehension building in his gut. “Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?”

    Summary

    Breathing is different from living.

Jungwon had never had a purpose to live before, not until he gained a new roommate who went by the name Jay. The only reason that he had gotten a roommate was for the sole purpose of no longer being alone. He didn’t know it at the time, but his newfound roommate would cure more than just his loneliness.

As Jungwon got to know his roommate, he questioned how Jay could do it. How he could be so vibrant and unpredictable, initiating the most bizarre things out of nowhere, doing things that Jungwon could only dream of doing.

Jay on the other hand, knew exactly why he did the things he did. Every day, he would look at the watch on his wrist and wake up to a new number displayed on it, counting down his days.

    His days to live.
