It really was unfair how pretty he was. Even today when everyone was sweating like a pig, here was the son of Ares who looked as beautiful as a sunrise. His hair was done in a small high ponytail and Lance hated how much it suited his face. It should’ve looked absolutely ridiculous when his goddamn mullet wasn’t that long, however Lance was many things, but not a liar. The fucker could pass off as a model for a magazine even at this moment.
Although, his eyes were looking different. Not that Lance has had many opportunities to observe, of course, but he was sure they were purple blue most of the time. Yet today they were taking a different color, like a dark silver, reminding him of gray diamonds.
The ones they usually put in the engagement rings; Lance’s brain unhelpfully reminded him.
“Stop staring,” Keith snapped irritated and kicked him lightly on the shoulder with his foot.

It was actually a very adorable sight and Keith didn’t realize he was smiling until Shiro’s eyes snapped up at him this time. But this time it stayed, analyzing his face, not like with Lance when he had barely spared him a third glance.

Clark heard it just as he stepped out the front entrance of The Daily Planet’s building. The sun had already set, a chilly autumn breeze dragging through his coat. It had been a late evening for him, catching up on drafts for his next few articles before some other emergency stole his attention from his work.
“Kal-el.”
He straightened, perking towards Gotham. Something cold gripped his heart as he listened for that familiar heartbeat. The voice was unmistakable; low, rough, and steady, one that grounded Clark almost as quick as Ma’s. In battle, hearing it usually meant there was a plan, that Clark could worry a little less about details; because the man he trusted the most – with his life and the lives of his family – had it under control. It soothed Clark when he faltered, bolstered him when his strength wavered, and steadied him when he teetered on the edge of sensory madness.
And that voice sounded afraid.
Clark was suited up and hurtling through the air towards Gotham before Bruce whispered again.
“Kal–” came his quiet gasp. “I’m sorry.”
