Summary
Mike hesitates for half a second. Then he twists the throttle. The four-wheeler surges forward.
Will yelps, sharp and surprised, the sound torn out of him as the ground blurs beneath them. Wind slams into his face, stealing his breath, and his body is jolted backwards by the sudden speed.
“Oh my god, Mike!”
Mike laughs, loud and unrestrained. “Holy shit! This thing’s fast!” The field rushes past them in streaks of gold and green. The engine roars, vibrating through Will’s chest, through his arms, through every place they’re touching. He doesn’t have time to think. He doesn’t have time to panic.
His arms lock around Mike’s waist, with no time to even process.
⋆˚࿔ OR ~ Will & Mike get bored so they steal a four-wheeler and go on a ride together while Will is absolutely a flustered mess.

“You guys have gotten really close.” Mike tells her, trying to make conversation but unable to really hold a steady tone. Instead it comes off condescending. “Will’s allowed to have more than one friend, you know?” Robin replies, and Mike cannot believe her right now. Seriously, she comes in here out of nowhere and thinks she knows Will better than Mike? “I never said he couldn’t.” Mike shoots back. “Plus, are you guys seriously just friends?” Mike says, his eyes narrowing. And again, Robin's eyebrows shoot up. “Very much so, just friends. Like, the emphasis on very is almost comical-” Robin laughs nervously and quickly shuts herself up. “But, why would it matter so much?” Robin continues, a different look in her eye. “It doesn’t matter.” Mike says. “I was just asking.” Any and all forms of tears that might’ve been on Mike’s face are gone now, because he's strictly just annoyed. “Look, I promise you we’re just friends. Sometimes… you just need someone to go to for other things. He’s still your best friend, Wheeler.”

This summer. God, this summer was one of the worst ones yet. And right here we have the main contributor! Micheal Wheeler, someone Will Byers could never hate, yet has so many reasons to. Like how he basically called him gay, treated him like shit, only focused on El, caused Will many breakdowns, outright ignored him, but you know still can't get myself to hate him because of that dumb so so very stupid crush. Or basically how he could never hate him because he has been madly in love with him, his best friend for years and knows he's a disgusting mistake who doesn't even deserve to be remotely happy and should really tell someone so he can be shamed for who he really is but here we are!
