Oh, she realizes. I hate him.
And she does. She hates him. She realizes she's always hated him, in the way commuters hate traffic- as something irritating but expected. But right now, she hates him in the way she hated Nanami in the moments after being reduced to a semi-nude wreck kneeling on the ground, not unlike she's kneeling now. Hates him because he's surprised her enough to force her into being fully present in her body- the body he uses as a lightning rod for his stupid, petty anger.

She shakes her head, distant earthen windchimes drowned out by echoes of the past: a broad fist slamming against a table, dreaded footsteps down the hallway, a bone-shaking bellow of anger that quickens her heartbeat even a hundred years later.

Summary
Looking up at the sky where all the clouds look like rose bushes and there are crimson petals fluttering in the air from the edge of the floral-covered rooftop, Utena comments, “You are a very weird girl, Himemiya.”
When Utena returns to glancing at Anthy, the green-eyed gardener is watering a particular spot of the rose field, which looks lightly—but noticeably—a bit more round in volume and a bit less populated in red flowers than the rest of the area.
“I suppose so, Ms. Utena.”
(It’s not until Utena goes to bed that night that she realizes that Anthy never once had to refill her watering can and remembers that established roses only need to be watered once or twice a week.)
(Or, a drabble about an average day of Utena watching Anthy tend to the rose gardens. Set during the movie Adolescence of Utena.
