    Bookmarker's Notes

Haven’t finished the series yet but it’s definitely one to be bookmarked. So so sad to think of Patrick ending up alone after David dies. Brings back memories of experiences of deaths I have had in my own life. The grief described here is palpable and many tears have been shed reading this. Even though it’s so heartbreaking, I guess I’m looking forward to find out where it all ends. I hope Patrick finds love again although he will never ever forget his David. 😭
    😭😭
    Chapter 12:
So great to get a peak at some of Patrick’s past and how difficult it was for him to admit that he was gay. What a great journey he is having here in his childhood bedroom for self-reflection and to remember how truly lucky he was to met and fallen in love with David. Thank you for continuing this story.

    Chapter 13:
Thank you so much for another wonderful chapter. So great to have Patrick thinking about his high school days and how much he’s changed and grown. So heartwarming to see him with a family of gay men and starting to think about the possibilities of his own future without his David. Can’t wait to read more. ❤️

He gets three strides into the office-slash-storage space before he realizes exactly what he just did.

Oh fuck. Oh no. No no no. He couldn’t have just casually kissed Patrick, his business partner, whom he is 87% sure is straight, as though it was something they do every day and -

    Fuck.

Love this! Perfect blend of canon and alternate canon and such a great twist to have that accidental kiss! Wonder how they got through the day!? So much build up. So much desire. And this: “They just fit together, like two puzzle pieces, perfectly interlocking.” And, of course Patrick’s neck kisses 😘 (which you can tell I have a soft spot for from my chosen emoji.)
And then: “He takes the opportunity to kiss him there, again, in a spot he’s confidently claiming as his own.” Perfect choice of words as I’ve always felt this one belonged to and for Patrick.

    Summary

“What, Patrick? Do you need help burying a body?” Even that might not be worse than the worst thing he’s helped Alexis do.

Patrick laughs. “No! God no, David. I just need a ride to my dentist on Friday.”

“Oh, that’s all?” It’s not that it’s no hassle to get the family car, but it’s basically no hassle to get the family car. Which Patrick knows, because David can’t help but mention it pretty much any time the subject of cars comes up. The look on Patrick’s face, the way he’s biting on his lower lip, sets off alarm bells in David’s gut. “That’s not all?”

“No, I mean. It is. Only. I’m getting my wisdom teeth out."

    Bookmarker's Notes

So much good to say about this! My heart broke that D&P missed the birthday date opportunity and had to wait for so long to get together. And this end line says all that so beautifully:
“David Rose isn’t naive. He knows that there will be conversations — long ones, short ones, ones that chip away at the walls they’ve both built and the lies they’ve both told and all the ways they’ve failed to see what’s clearly in front of them both.”

So sad to think how many of us have been terrified to be vulnerable and share our true feelings with another. I wonder how my life might be different today had a spoken up. Thank you for writing and sharing this!

    Summary

Not for the first time that day, Patrick looked at the empty spot behind the cash where the business licence usually hung and wondered what had happened to it. David had closed alone the night before so that Patrick could get to baseball practice. He’d looked through their desk in the back room and under the counter, but it was nowhere to be seen. He could only assume that David had finally gotten sick of the frame that was “too corporate for his brand” and taken it down to put it in a more aesthetically pleasing frame. He didn’t mind if that was the case, not really, though he did have a slight sentimental attachment to the silver frame he’d agonized over before he’d known David.

Beautiful! Thank you for writing and sharing this with us! Love David’s barely contained excitement and how he quickly pressed his lips together to hide the smile on his face. (I can so see that!) And the last line brought tears to my eyes. I love these two so much!

    Summary

After the third time David is woken by the music from his upstairs neighbour, he tears a page from his journal, scrawls a note – waking your neighbours up with that noise is incorrect – shoves his feet into his shoes and a sweater over his head and stomps upstairs to push the note under his neighbour’s door.

When he leaves the building later, a note stuck in the middle of the building notice board catches his eye: APOLOGIES TO THOSE OF YOU I WOKE WITH MY MUSIC (IN MY DEFENCE, 8AM ISN’T EARLY). I TAKE REQUESTS THOUGH – PATRICK, 5C

Jesus fuck. David snatches the note off the board, lest any of his other neighbours take it upon themselves to make requests. What kind of heathen takes musical requests – and from people they don’t know? In New York?! He shudders at the thought.

Love this one! Patrick always seems to have David’s number and figures out how to get him on side. It always seems to take the two of them awhile to figure out how they can get together physically but when they do - look out! So hot and still tender. Thank you!
