it breaks itself and becomes alive. it is: bright spark-snaps of pulse, ropy veins carving into the darkness, a heart heaving around its search for itself. the birth of a nightmare: a crush of radio static, a sharp, sudden slice of technicolour, and then nothing. and then light.
it doesn’t feel like real light—warm and powdery, textured like it would be soft under touch. this light cracks the world in two, angular and unyielding. all right angles. it hurts namjoon’s eyes.
he closes them. when he opens them again, the sky is white and the moon is black. everything is painfully monochrome.
namjoon struggles to his feet. oh, he thinks: i’ve had this dream before.

“do you still want to impress me?”
hoseok doesn’t fluster, the way he would have once. he just smiles a funny smile and chews another bite of cake. hoseok seems like he already knows how he’s going to answer, but he lets the silence stew there for a while, yoongi’s face growing warmer by the second.
“maybe a little,” hoseok says, finally, “but i think i get it now.”
yoongi’s gripping his spoon so hard it might snap. “get what?”
it’s silly, when hoseok leans over the booth, wet boots thunking against the wood of the seat. silly, the way he’s hunched over the table, cakes framing his wrists and elbows, and even more so when he grins, bright and wide and sunny.
“you’re soft, hyung,” he says pleasantly. “it’s not so hard to impress you.”
hoseok stares at yoongi and yoongi looks back at him and thinks and thinks and thinks: not when it comes to you.

if his tone startles taehyung, he doesn’t show it. “just to talk,” he says brightly. “i think yoongi hyung needs help.”

“That’s not what I meant!” Shang Qinghua huffs, his head still spinning. As far as being a married man goes, Shang Qinghua is nowhere near ready.
“What?” Mobei Jun raises a single eyebrow. “Were you looking to marry for love?”
