Summary
Darry squares up his shoulders and his face contorts into the set jaw and furrowed eyebrows that Ponyboy knows all too well that means Darry is good and angry. Good, Ponyboy thinks selfishly. They’ve begun their dance. Ponyboy knowing exactly what to say to rile up his brother, Darry riding him for something he thinks Ponyboy should be doing. And they’ll go back and forth at it for a while before Darry decides to give up because he has to get dinner made. Nothing resolved, just stashed away somewhere until the vortex between them starts to swell again.
Ponyboy’s mouth was going faster than his brain at this point. “I bet the entire week I was in Windrixville you were glad I was gone so you wouldn’t have to take care of your little brother who is such a pain to be around!”
Or; The day Darry tells Ponyboy about the fight between him and Dally while Pony was in Windrixville based on that one cut line from the musical where Pony tells the audience, "It took a while for Darry to tell me about this...,"

Summary
Darry had never really cared about Valentine’s day. It's not that he hated it, he just never seemed to care about not having someone to be with. He supposed it was because he had never been too keen on girls. No one at school had ever grabbed his attention. Not even the fancy girls at the Soc parties he went to with his team. He also knew that he needed to get good grades and be the best football player he could be so he could get a scholarship and be the first Curtis to go to college, so all his focus needed to go into that, not romance. So whenever the air turned sweet in February, he never minded not having plans.
Until Paul came along.

Summary
Growing up in a gang surrounded by boys, Ace never gave a second thought about her own dating life. Sure, she’d like to fall in love like any other teenager, but she just didn’t find herself drawn to any one of the guys she surrounded herself with, those were her brothers. And to be honest, finding a greaser boy who she could maybe like was slim pickings. The gang was her family and the thought of dating literally any of them made her want to be sick. These were the same boys who would wrestle each other over the dumbest jokes, play football with each other, and roamed town just being kids together. The people she has known since they were all just kids, future greasers. Sometimes when you see a person grow up it's hard to imagine them as anything else but your family. Instilled from a young age, she was always told she'd fall in love with a boy and she believed it, until she fell for a girl.
TLDR: Ace (and Marcia) is dealing with comphet and is in love with Marcia. Based on "Fall in Love With a Girl" by Cavetown and inspired by @brokenlovesong 's Ace x Marcia fic, "You'd Have to Stop the World Just to Stop the Feeling" (go read it, it's amazing)

Ponyboy’s breath hitched in his throat as he came to an unfinished drawing in the last few pages of the book.
On the page was a drawing of a tire swing over a creek. Except someone was sitting in the tire swing, the striped shirt and black shoes impossible to not recognize. Ponyboy had forgotten all about this drawing, about the trips with Johnny and his family to the creek. Those memories came quickly through his head in flashes. The sound of water splashing, iced tea clinking in metal thermoses, and Johnny’s laugh. He remembered the pattern of stars across the sky that glinted in Johnny’s eyes as they crossed their hearts, the same warmness that had filled his chest that day began to grow now. And for the first time today, Ponyboy could feel himself smiling

Summary
Ponyboy reflects on his and Johnny's friendship when Johnny tells Ponyboy he wants to disappear for the first time. Ponyboy does not take it well, and though he doesn't understand, he is gonna do anything he can to help his best friend. Ponyboy also discovers that there may be more to his love for Johnny than he thinks...
“I just wish my folks cared about me, wish the old man didn’t beat me–I hate–I can’t even look at myself in the mirror sometimes,” Johnny said shakily. He glanced down self consciously at his bruised arms. Little cuts and scrapes along them, they reminded me of the stars we had seen in the lot, patterns snaking all the way up to his shoulders. “I probably look like a real sissy walking around like this,” he added bitterly.
Reaching out my hand gingerly I traced a finger around them, careful not to push too hard, staying on the non-bruised skin as much as I could. I shook my head, “Nah these are tough,”(I suck at summaries I'm sorry)
Mature for the discussion of suicide and light swearing. QPR Pony and Johnny because I saw someone say we need more of that in this fandom and I agree!!

The woman’s smile dropped. She brushed nonexistent dust off her blouse and snapped, “I don’t appreciate the use of such vulgar language, Mister Curtis. You boys should know better, even if you do live here.” She waved her hand around at the house Darry busted his ass every month scraping up to rent and Soda inhaled sharply, but she continued. “My name is Barbara Filler, Mister Curtis, of the Oklahoma chapter of the CPS.”
“The- the CPS?” Pony said, his voice hot with anger, and Soda felt a rush of sudden pride.
“Yes, Ponyboy. Child Protective Services.”
Darry’s brothers are taken away, and there’s nothing he can do to stop it.
