Summary
When John returns to Arthur from the Dark World, there’s a lot for him to grapple with. The reality of what happened there, keeping it a secret per his deal with Kayne; Arthur, as cold and ravaged as the town of Addison. Returned to Arthur’s body, John still retains the ability to see the final moments of the deceased. But now, when John touches Arthur’s skin, he sees Arthur’s deaths. All of the times things almost ended very differently. Arthur is hell bent on bringing about such an outcome on his own, and John has seen enough death for one lifetime – especially deaths of the person he cares about most.

Summary
There are many freedoms John enjoys with his own body. Choosing the path he takes to the store, choosing the path he takes home from the store, choosing what flavor of tea to make in the morning. And if he doesn't want to eat - if taste and texture and chewing is too much - he doesn't have to! This is perfectly fine and nothing unfortunate could ever come from this.

Arthur tenses, good shoulder coming up to meet his ear, almost like he's trying to hide.
