During King's Tide things went wrong during the Hexsquad's fight with Belos as they didn't watch the portal and instead fell straight into it before Collector could come and do the thing.
So, now that they are stuck with him, they can't really have him running around like an escapee of a retirement home, nor can they risk trying to kill him again so soon.
