“Really, really sucks,” agrees someone a little croakily, behind his right elbow. He’s been drinking steadily for the past three hours and it’s been almost half a decade since he heard it in person, but Tsukishima would recognise that annoyingly grating voice anywhere.

Tsukishima Kei never would admit this, but he liked Hinata Shoyo. It was disgusting, to say the least. Hinata Shoyo, the boy with endless stamina and a crazy passion for volleyball, could make butterflies form in Tsukishima's stomach. It didn't matter anyway. Tsukishima wasn't the one that Hinata liked.

Hinata lets out an entirely different yelp — more of a squeak, like shoes on the court — and his face flushes a hot-red. Tobio’s own face feels unbearably warm, but he ignores it. For the team.
It’s an… unorthodox way of calming a teammate’s nerves. Some people would call it inappropriate or lewd. A couple times, Asahi has warbled, red-faced, that what they do is illegal. Tobio doesn’t care about legalities, though, because it works. Sugawara, Tanaka, and Nishinoya had said the same when the topic was brought-up during a team meeting. Tsukishima had mocked them (even though he’d given them the idea after overhearing something from Fukurōdani’s pretty setter), and Yamaguchi had turned so pink, Tobio thought he’d explode. Even the Coach had grumbled approval. More or less. In the end, Captain had agreed that it worked, so they were fine to do it. Although, Tobio thinks that he might’ve only agreed because Sugawara did.
hinata gets nervous before matches, and when hinata is nervous, the team is nervous. thankfully, kageyama tobio knows just how to make him relax.

“How— how do you want me?” he asks, voice cracking.
Tsukishima blinks up at him, looking very nonchalant. Shouyo doesn’t miss the slight pinkness on his cheeks, though. “Just pretend I’m your precious King, Chibi,” he says, with a forced kind of casualness. Tsukishima lets go of Shouyo’s hip, sitting back in his seat like he has a million better things to do. He might, but somehow Shouyo doubts it.
‘Pretend I’m your precious King’. Shouyo can do that, he supposes. It doesn’t sound too hard.
when kageyama is sick and unable to help hinata calm-down before a game, tsukishima steps-up to take his place.

Summary
Hinata Shoyo is the sun.
At least, that’s how everyone saw him. A walking ball of sunshine, radiating energy and warmth wherever he went. He would always face people with that contagious smile and positivity, dazzling anyone he meets.
He was their sun.
But sometimes people with the brightest smiles hides the most pain.
In the span of one month, Hinata’s world unraveled. He found out his boyfriend had been seeing someone else. His father walked out on their family, and his mom spiraled into madness. And as if the universe thought that wasn’t enough problems, his little sister, Natsu, ended up in an accident.
Hinata never asked for much. He wasn’t looking for someone to carry the weight of his world, or to fix everything that went wrong.
All he wanted was someone to listen to him. Someone who could understand the pain he was silently carrying. Just one person who could hold him and say that everything would be alright.
Was that really too much to ask?
