Summary
Every exposed gap of skin is a raw, stripped nerve. Vein’s curious thumb presses into his jugular like the searing of a propane lighter pressed into a vulnerability; rubs small, slow circles into skin and waits out the aftershocks moving through him. Liu Xiao thinks he can feel each groove and swirl of Vein’s thumbprint against the trembling line of his throat. Liu Xiao doesn’t think: sensation raw and white-hot, too much, everything gutted to animal instinct.

Summary
Liu Xiao: Xia Fei’s constant—a religion built with the wrong kind of faith. Xia Fei: Liu Xiao’s constant, just as equally—a belief dying out in a slow killing.
“Say something.” Xia Fei’s voice breaks in the same way a split lip does after a fight. He releases Liu Xiao like the last prayer before a wreckage. “Say something.”

Summary
Xia Fei grins, unaware. A sour feeling curdles deep in the cavity of Liu Xiao’s chest in a slow killing. “Did you miss me that much?”
I did. Liu Xiao wants to say, but doesn’t. He stops — hesitates. Then: replaces them with a practiced smile. The words die a brutal death at the back of his throat by the lined firing squad of his teeth. “Not at all. I saw you yesterday, after all."
// or: In this one, Liu Xiao finds himself no longer a stranger.

Summary
“I didn’t know you took in a loyal guard dog, Vein.” Jae Lee tilts his head, the mouth of his gun still pointed cold and sharp against the sheen of sweat on Xia Fei’s forehead. Xia Fei can barely feel it; it’s barely tangible, like the ghost of an afterimage that flits across the eye after you’ve seen it once. Because Jae Lee doesn’t touch Xia Fei with the gun at all — it’s controlled, precise, just millimeters away from skin. Hovering. Not touching.
// or: Xia Fei wants Jae Lee to get the fuck out. Jae Lee doesn't get the fuck out. Vein's here for damage control.

Summary
“Are you scared, sunshine?” Vein asks, smudging a lovely scarlet over Xia Fei’s cheekbone in false blush. He drags his talon in a crimson streak down the curve of Xia Fei’s jaw, the bump of his throat, the dip of his clavicles. Almost puncturing skin. And then, stopping right over it.
// or: Vein puts Xia Fei on the throne where he belongs.

Summary
But then, as Xia Fei thinks he’s going to have to force himself to come, Vein gets on his knees. Vein gets on his knees. In front of Xia Fei. Xia Fei’s never seen Vein in a position lower than when sitting down. And now here Vein was, his laoban, the head of Chinatown’s Commerce, on his knees in front of him.
There are two things Xia Fei doesn't like at this party.
1. Being ignored by Vein.
2. How touchy others are with Vein. And he's about to take both matters into his own hands.

Summary
“Felix, do you want to know how I became the leader of Chinatown?”
Xia Fei lolls his head over the back of the couch, bangs flipping over his forehead to reveal the Badtz-Maru themed bandaid Vein had stuck on him earlier. He silently gnaws at the lollipop in his mouth as he stares at Vein from upside down. For someone lounging in the maw of a beast, he always looks more relaxed here than he does in the studio, drunk or not. “Umm. Democracy?”
Vein barks out a laugh that comes out sharper and more genuine than he expects. Oh, sweet, naive Xia Fei. Kid’s smarter than he lets on, but not always when it comes to Vein. Then again, it’s partially this that makes him all so amusing. Vein bares his teeth into a large grin, tongue and incisors and all, and relishes in how Xia Fei stops chewing on the candy after a straight half hour to gawk. “With my teeth, sunshine.”

It has to be you, Doppo, Hifumi’s written in shaky handwriting fit for someone overtaken by an incurable tremor. It has to be you. I don’t want anyone else.

Summary
Hifumi sits in front of Doppo, shot glass in hand, white light like a hard seltzer kissing the crown of his head to give him that same lurid glow from Kabukicho’s entrance. He’s got lipstick on the rim of his glass; it’s slightly smudged on his mouth, too, and Doppo thinks, yeah, in another timeline, he definitely did that.

Summary
“What if,” Doppo breathes, half delirious on weariness and half delirious on the fear of separation, “what if we don’t get into anywhere together?”
Hifumi huffs in what Doppo thinks might be a laugh. He doesn’t know. He’s too out of it. The moon is in front of him and it’s lulling him to sleep with its soft glow. Doppo closes his eyes. “You’re worrying your head too much, Doppo-chin. Even if we don’t get into anywhere together, we’ll still be here for each other, right? So it doesn’t really matter where we are. I’ll still follow you, Doppo, even if we don’t end up together.”
// or: Doppo and Hifumi over the course of their high school days, as recorded through a Fujifilm camera acting as both their eyes at different times.

Summary
“—okay, fine, Childe.” Lumine lets out an exasperated sigh, massaging her temples when her index fingers. “I’ll be straight with you: you’re the type to somehow stupidly ignore the elevator and use the stairs and trip down it in the process. And then you fucking die.”
Childe gapes in exaggeration. “Wow, girlie, didn’t know you could predict my future. Read me like a book, won’t you? I’ll totally ignore the elevator and tumble down the stairs. You know what? In fact, let me do that right now. Seems exhilarating and better than being stuck in bed 24/7.”
Tsaritsa's 11th Mafia Harbinger, Childe, hates being stuck in a hospital with nowhere to go and nothing to do. But, hey, at least there's a really, really cute doctor with the fiercest of eyes and sharpest of retorts who he wouldn't mind staying a couple of weeks longer for.
(And, gods above, the way she absolutely FLOORS him in their sparring matches is so fucking hot. It might be the hottest thing anyone's ever done for him, actually.)

Summary
“It’s for you,” Komaeda finally says. The trees behind them have gone to sleep, and the winter sun lounging on white wisps begins to leave. “For the most honorable cleric in this kingdom. This is what the gods want, and if it’s me that they need for you to receive their blessings, then I don’t mind. Hinata-kun.”
“I don’t care about the gods,” Hajime erupts with a force unreckoned in his chest, and he finally shifts his leaden body to face Komaeda, and that is when he sees him. This boy, the same age as him, dressed glamorously in gold leaves wreathed under his snowy hair and lining his silk outfit sculpting him in marble. And, oh, those jade eyes, deeper than the lake’s depths to drown Hajime in. “The gods don’t need you, Komaeda. I need you.”
// or, Hajime finds a shrine, and with it, the ghost of a past life.
