Summary
a desperate human is far more dangerous than any dragon
When given a choice between all he's ever known, and the wilderness beyond it, Hiccup chooses the latter. Now, five years later, he has abandoned humanity, mimicking the behaviours of his brother - Toothless - and the rest of their flock. Content to leave his entire childhood in the past, Hiccup is dragged back into fifteen years of unpleasant memories when his peers from Berk crash into his new home. He soon finds his allegiances split between the new life he has built for himself, and the one he abandoned.
Berk is starving, plagued by constant dragon raids and empty seas. The heir to the chiefdom, Astrid, leads the expedition to find the famed dragon master, and beg for his help in stopping the raids. Little does she know, behind the mask, is somebody she's been mourning for years.

Snotlout picked up several black scales. “These came from a dragon.”
Astrid summed up the situation by saying, “This doesn’t make any sense.”
“Sure it does,” Tuffnut casually stated. “Our shrimpy Hiccupy fellow really did catch a night fury with that awesomely destructive weapon of his and it crashed right here, but instead of killing the night fury he freed it instead.”
Snotlout responded, “That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Not even Hiccup is that stupid.” And for once, Astrid agreed with him, though she would never admit it.
Little did they know they were all about to get their own dragons and become Hiccup's best friends for life. Basically what if the gang joined Hiccup way earlier in the first movie. (Summary might change if I think of something better. I'm tired.)

Summary
Viggo shoots a Night Fury that was passing over their island down with a bola. The creature had been raiding their camps and ships for months. To be able to shoot it down was a big win for the Hunters. The next day Viggo goes over to the woods to find the dragon but only finds the destroyed bola that was clearly cut with a knife and torn pieces of leather. It didnt make any sense. Someone had cut the dragon free? Why?
That night Viggo sees a young man that isn't part of his tribe sneak into the forge taking some leather and when he confronts him the young man growls and roars and the young man escapes. Viggo is intrigued and wants to find him or catch him the next time he is in the forge.
