Gil went outside into the courtyard off the main hospital entrance. He followed the solar lights along the path to an unoccupied metal bench, then took off his mask, rubbed alcohol-based goo into his hands from the tube he kept in his pocket, and blew his nose, ignoring the couple of other people who were also juggling masks and coffee cups, practicalities and solace, on one of the lousier days of their lives.
