“Sooooo” said Bow into the sudden silence. “Is this some sort of elaborate plan to murder us then?” Catra snorted.

“I think we’re all getting a little too old for that shit, don’t you? No, no, the message I sent was real.” She certainly looked older. There was grey in her fur now, though it had only been three years since they’d last seen her. She wore an unfamiliar grey and red uniform, with a pistol and a knife buckled at her belt. Her hair was long again, tied back in braids, and her eyes were tired.

“Then what do you want?” asked Glimmer, stepping into the room. “Not that it isn’t nice to learn you’re still alive and all.”

“I told you Sparkles” said Catra, flicking her ears. “The Crimson Claws are interested in joining your Coalition. We’re willing to offer our full support against Horde Prime, access to our intelligence network, basing and resupply rights, military coordination—everything. I just have one condition.”

“Oh?” said Glimmer, stretching her fingers in case she needed to let loose a blast of magic or teleport herself and Bow back to the ship. But Catra didn’t attack. She just looked straight at her and said very quietly

“I want you to tell me how Adora died.”

    Summary

Adora landed in a heap of trash bags with a groan. Her back, now, as well as her side – ached with a fiery reminder that something was severely wrong there.

Rolling off to the side and onto the grimy street was much harder than it normally would be. All the air had been beaten out of her on impact – she gasped for it, but between the thick, stale smoke of the back-alley and the stench of the garbage, it wasn’t coming to her.

She ripped off her red mask, gulping in air and half-hunching over herself to place a hand to the gushing wound in her side. She probably had to treat that, at some point.

“Well,” Adora whipped round at the sound of another voice, mouth gaping reflexively. At the end of the alleyway, Catra stood, a hand resting on her hip, her lips twisted up into that smirk she was oh-so-familiar with. “Isn’t this a surprise?”

“Catra,” Adora mumbled, taking note of how sluggish her words came out – and how the pain in her side was making her dizzy. “Hey.”

    And then she passed out.

    ----

Adora is Spiderwoman. Catra figures it out. Shenanigans ensue.

Instead of freezing to death, Jackie wakes up over a year before the crash, right in Shauna’s bedroom. But the weird part isn’t even the time travel, it’s having to exist at the same time as a younger, brighter version of herself.

    Summary

Closing her eyes caused a feeling of dread to envelop her. Jackie could do nothing but try to ignore it as she drifted off, curling her legs up tighter to fight the numbingly-sharp weather, bringing her hands in closer to her chest. Despite the chill in her body that just wouldn’t shake, Jackie’s dread left her body, replaced with a sweet sense of quiet calm.

The last thing Jackie remembered before leaving her consciousness was the sensation of a snowflake falling to rest on her cheek.

    OR

Time passed slowly as Nat tossed and turned in her sleeping bag. Despite how exhausted she felt, for some reason, the image of Jackie Taylor sleeping outside in the freezing snow stopped her from falling asleep.

Natalie walked over to the door; she wouldn't let Jackie die over something so petty as an argument.
