Error is a Spider

Summary:

He is falling.

 

Falling.

 

FALLING.

 

 

F A L L I N G .

 

 

Then he starts to break.

To shatter.

To hurt in a way he never has before.

Then it stops.

He feels a gentle warmth, hears a gentle voice.

An apology.

Then, then he finally rests, drifts to sleep one last time before his life starts anew.

He awakens to find he is now part spider.

He can’t help but laugh at the irony.

Notes:

This story is Set in MythTale as an alternate path to Harrish6’s ‘Healing What Has Been Broken’ where Error is a Jorogumo.

A Jorogumo is a creature from Japanese folklore that is based on the Joro spider and described as half woman half spider, either like a human with extra sets of arms and fangs(similar to Muffet) or similar to a Centaur where they have the top half of a human and the bottom half of a spider, who uses magic to disguise themselves as a seductive human woman who lures in men with her good looks and then eats them.

If you want more in-depth information I recommend listening to the podcast Mythical Monsters episode on Jorogumo.

And although I will not be including Null and Void in this story, Error will adopt some kids.

I also heavily recommend reading Harrish6’s ‘Healing What Has Been Broken’ and while this story can be read as a stand-alone it will add some more context.

Chapter 1: Black Widow

Chapter Text

He is falling.

 

 

Falling.

 

 

FALLING.

 

 

F A L L I N G .

 

 

 

 

Then he starts to break.

 

To shatter.

 

To hurt in a way he never has before.

 

Then it stops.

He feels a gentle warmth, hears a gentle voice.

An apology.

Then, then he finally rests, drifts to sleep one last time before his life starts anew.

When their child falls they reach out, catching him, holding him, comforting him.

They murmur soft words, sweet nothings, an apology.

They ask his forgiveness for not being able to change his Destiny sooner, for not being able to save him sooner, for not being there for him.

As their child rests they take him to the multiverse they had chosen to his new home, a place where he can heal from the hatred and the lies of his old multiverse, where he can find friends and family, where they can see how beautiful their child truly is.

Now to heal their child’s body, to change his body to fit in with his new home, to give him a new life.

Chapter 2: Joro

Chapter Text

It was the gentle warmth of sunlight and the sound of distant birdsong that woke him.

 

As he stirred he stretched and was startled by the feeling of unfamiliar limbs moving.

 

When he opened his eyes he looked to where his legs were then squinted not believing what he was seeing. Where his two skeletal legs should have been was instead the body of a large spider and six long spindly legs, all in his usual color pallet of black, red, and yellow.

 

Then he noticed that the, usually constant, pain was absent.

 

Next he checked his ribs, he could have sworn they were all broken, and found that they were pristine. No injuries, no cracks, no scars. It was the same all over his body, all of his bones were perfect and without so much as a scuff mark. He was beautiful.

 

“How… what could have done this?” He said, then he took in his surroundings and remembered that the last thing he had done was fall into the void.

 

He decided then that he should check the codes for wherever this place was.

 

He pulled open a window into the codes and started reading.

 

Stars, he knew that this place was unfamiliar but a whole nother multiverse? He thought he had just landed in a new universe, but a new multiverse and one consisting of a singular universe?

 

“Well there’s not much that can be done now… sigh… looks like there’s already another Error here, guess I’ll have to change my name, but what to… snrk… with Nightmare’s gang always comparing me to a spider Howler would only be fitting.” the newly dubbed Howler said, inputting the new information into the codes and closing the window.

 

“What to do now?”

Chapter 3

Summary:

So, uhh, oops? I hadn't meant for it to take this long for me to update but between my two rabbits dying two weeks apart from each other and then a month later 2020 happening and didn't stop happening I lost motivation for this work. I currently have no plans to continue this story however this chapter is what I did have written for the next few chapters and if I ever gain interest in this again I might update it but for now I'll call it done.

Chapter Text

Plot:

~Set in MythTale/HWHBB, Error is a Jorogumo. After falling into the void Error is transported to MythTale/MythVerse and to help him fit in is changed into a Jorogumo.

~When Error wakes up he is at first disappointed and then confused because last he checked he was a heavily injured/scarred skeleton not half-skeleton/half-spider with flawless vibrantly colored bones, he then checked the codes of this world and found that this world was the whole multiverse and there was already an Error here so he changed his name to Howler acknowledging the irony of him being half-spider.

~I use the third Definition of howler

~The newly dubbed Howler starts exploring his new surroundings, a forest, and finds a tree in the middle of a clearing that reminds him of how Nightmare described the tree him and Dream used to guard, Howler approaches the tree to get a better look and Nightmare launches himself out of the tree and at Howler in an attempt to keep him away from the tree only for Howler to catch him in his strings and tie him up, Nightmare starts yelling at Howler which wakes up Dream who squeals as he falls out of the tree startling Howler making him let go of Nightmare who then runs over to Dream and pouts, Dream sits up and blushes when he sees Howler because ‘!?!?! What’s such a pretty monster doing here at his tree of all places?!’ And introduces himself and his brother and complements Howler.

~Howler is confused because no one has ever complimented him let alone for how he looks so he responds with a confused ‘okay?’ And introduces himself, Nightmare stops pouting and starts questioning Howler’s motive for being there Howler tells them that he’s just wandering and isn’t interested in messing with their apples/tree, Dream being Dream decides that must mean that they can be friends and asks if Howler wants to have a sleepover and be friends, Nightmare protests saying Howler probably has something better to do and that it’s safer for him if he wasn’t here because people come to take their apples and will try to attack him, Howler decides that he’s going to protect these two kids and tells them he’ll stay with them.

~Sleepover commences. Dream brings out some berries to eat and asks Howler to tell them stories of where he’s from, Howler makes a hammock for them so they can sleep above the ground and Dream and Nightmare end up falling asleep to Howler telling stories.

~In the morning they are awoken by loud voices nearby and Blueberry and Honey try to get the apples and Dream and Nightmare try to stop them and are losing when Howler comes down from the Hammock and quickly catches Blue and Honey in his strings and they freak out because they think Howler is about to eat them, Dream and Nightmare start questioning them learning that they were hired to get some of the Apples and that they know what Howler is and are scared of him because of that
