Work Text:

The decision to have a wedding was spontaneous, just as the marriage itself was. It had been Tubbo to bring it up.

“We should get married.” He had brought it up when they had been out on the docks, late at night with a now sleeping Michael to watch the stars.

“I thought we were? Did you divorce me in my sleep or something?” Ranboo asked with a chuckle.

“No, like a real wedding. With cake and dancing and...y'know. Wedding-y stuff.” Ranboo just nodded, but Tubbo knew him well enough to know he was turning the idea over in his head. “I think we could pull it off. We can get friends to help plan. We could do it.”

“Any particular reason you want to?”

“It’s just...I do love you Ranboo, and I want to spend my life with you. You know it, and I know it and we don’t need a ceremony to prove it. But with Tommy and everything I just...It’s a milestone, Life is short and I don’t want to miss anything. I’m on my last life.” Ranboo rubbed circles on his back as Tubbo got quieter.

“That’s a good point. It would be fun, and a nice break from everything. Are you sure you want to?” Tubbo nodded. “Then let's get married.”

~

Planning the wedding was easier then expected with a grand total of under thirty guests. They had decided to hold it in the mansion that Foolish had built, having the ceremony in the foyer and the reception in the ballroom. They built the tables and chairs themselves, and finding the flowers and decorations proved to be the hardest part. Tubbo had brewed a potion that kept the flowers alive indefinitely, Alliums and white carnations and leafy green to carry their theme, a rich forest green and a royal purple for each of them in turn. By the end of the week, the entrance hall was transformed, chairs and carpeting placed.

The hard part was setting up the not-so tangible things.

They had approached Foolish first. He was in his home in Snowchester, shrinking down to normal human size when he saw the couple.

“Ranboo! Tubbo! Good to see ya! How are you finding the new house?”

“It’s great! We’ve actually been, uh decorating for our...wedding.” Ranboo said. He didn’t know why he was so nervous; Foolish knew about the wedding. They just desperately needed him to agree.

“Oh are you guys having a ceremony?”

“Yep!” Tubbo said taking over, giving Ranboo’s hand a squeeze. “And we wanted to ask a favour.”

“Ask away!” Foolish said with a grin.

“Well, we need an officiator, and seeing as you’re a god we thought you must have some form of qualification for the job. Plus you're practically family, we’d love for you to marry us and say a few words if you’d like.”

“I would be honored! Definitely, and yeah I’m actually ordained. Back in the ol’ cult days I had to marry two of my friends to get them out of the blood cult. They’re together to this day.” he said with a faraway look.

“Awesome! We’ll keep you posted about everything, but thank you so much! You have no idea how much we appreciate it.” Tubbo said.

“Yeah no worries, just give me a holler if you need anything else!”

“Thanks Foolish!” Ranboo called as the pair exited the house. Tubbo was beaming and Ranboo felt immensely relieved.

“One down, the rest of the greater SMP to go.” Tubbo said. “How about you go ask Niki about the cake, I’ll work on the suits!” Ranboo agreed, and when they reached the house gave a quick farewell to Michael before heading to Niki’s city.

~

The cavern was beautiful; spacious and airy and brightly lit, but she was nowhere in sight. Ranboo’s voice echoed when he called out for her.

“Niki? Uh, are you there?” Another voice rang out, echoing off the walls and making it impossible to tell where she was coming from.

“Hello Ranboo! I’m in the library!” having been given the official tour a few weeks ago, Ranboo made his way to the library, which was a darker room with high walls lined with books, and a sliding ladder like they had in the movies. Niki was at her desk, book open in front of her and a notebook to the side, fingers ink stained. “Hello! Good to see you hun, you can sit anywhere. What brings you over here?”

“Well good to see you too, but you know Tubbo and I are married right?” He hadn’t written that particular detail down in his memory book, but Niki was always patient.

“Yeah! You told me a few weeks ago.”

“Well, we had never had an official wedding, and we wanted to ask if you’d make a cake? We’ll pay you and everything, but you’re the best baker on the SMP.” It was true; people had come from far and wide to go to her bakery, sometimes on the mornings with nice weather the residents of L’manburg would all have congregated there for her breakfast pastries by the sea.

“Sure! I think the old bakery is still in commission, or I can get Fundy to set up the appliances here. How many is it for, and what kind?” She had flipped to a new page in her notebook and had already scribbled something down.

“We haven’t decided yet, we’ll send over the information though, thank you so much. But also, I wanted to ask if you’d be one of my groomsmen?” She looked a bit surprised but smiled widely.

“I’d love to. I’m so happy for you two! Will the rest of the Syndicate be in attendance?” Ranboo’s stomach dropped.

He hadn’t told Technoblade yet.

Techno was an...interesting person. Pretty sporadic, and therefore hard to gauge for reactions. And Ranboo didn’t know much about their and Tubbo’s history, but he did know that Techno saw his name as synonymous with ‘government’. And everyone knows how they feel about that. Philza was supportive, and worst comes to worst the man could hold Techno back while they fled.

“...They will be. But I haven’t told them yet.” Niki nodded.

“That’s valid hun. I’m sure it’ll go great. But be safe. I’m proud of you regardless.” Niki reached over with her non-inky hand and gave Ranboo’ hand an affirming squeeze.
“Thanks Niki.”

Tubbo_: hey tommy, meet in snoowchester?

Tommyinnit: SURE THING BIG MAN, BE THERE IN A FEW

Tubbo had finished crafting the suits, getting Ranboo’s measurements from his spare, and had decided to confront Tommy. He had sat with his communicator in hand, message typed out for upwards of five minutes before pressing send. Tommy’s response was instant, and Tubbo saw no use in wasting away with dread, instead heading to the mansion and sending his coordinates. He carried Michael on his hip, who was babbling excitedly. Tommy arrived outside in a matter of minutes, knocking on the great oak doors before bursting into the hall.

“Oh Tubbooo-” He began, before stopping dead in his tracks, looking at the venue. Tubbo walked down from the stairs behind the podium.

“Tommy-”

“IS THIS A WHOLE CEREMONY FOR A DIVORCE? POG-”

“Tommy stop. We’re not divorcing.” Tubbo cut off. Tommy’s elated scream faded out as the solemn look on Tubbo’s face remained. “I don’t wanna do this today. Just- come sit down in the parlour.” Tommy nodded and silently followed to the living room.

“Want me to take Michael?” Tommy asked quietly, as the child was reaching towards him muttering a variation of ‘uncle tommy’. Tubbo nodded and passed Michael over, who exclaimed in piglin before burying his head in Tommy’s shoulder and essentially passing out. They sat next to each other on the couch.

“Tommy-”

“Tubbo-” They started at the same time, causing them to burst out in a fit of quiet giggles before settling. “You first big man.”

“I wanted to ask you to be my best man.” Best to rip the bandaid off.

“What?!”
“You’re practically my brother. Of course I want you to be my best man. I know you and Ranboo have your differences but can you please do this? For me?” Tommy was quiet for a second.

“Of bloody course I will.” he’s quiet for a minute. “You really love him then?” Tubbo nodded, and gestured to Michael.

“They’re my family. I love them more than anything. But that doesn’t mean I’m replacing you. You’re not 'Uncle' Tommy for nothing.”

“I never said-”

“I know you better than that.” Tubbo cut off with a fond smile, leaning back. “I’d never replace you.” Tommy rubbed at his eyes, mumbling a quiet ‘allergies.’ “Will you do it big man?”

“I will be the BEST best man you’ve ever had!” Tommy proclaimed fiercely , wrapping his free arm around Tubbo’s shoulders. Tubbo breathed a sigh of relief, fully hugging his best friend and his brother.

“Thank prime. I was worried for a minute there.”

“Oi! Are your expectations of me that low?”

“Yes.”

“Fuck off.”

“Not in front of Michael!”

“Ow!”

~

The house loomed over the tundra; though it was smaller than the mansion by far, but it felt looming as Ranboo tentatively made his way to Techno’s door. He raised his hand to knock, but Phil had evidently seen him coming, and ushered him inside.

“Ranboo! It’s cold out there, come in, come in! Techno’s down in the basement. Want some tea?” Ranboo nodded and followed Phil into the kitchen as he put on the kettle. “You’ve been away a few days, visiting Tubbo?”

“Yeah, actually, that's what I wanted to talk to you about. Tubbo and I are getting married. Like a real wedding.”

“I thought you already were mate?”

“Oh no, yeah we are! We just wanted to do the wedding part..” Phil’s face lit up.

“Oh, it’s been a while since I’ve been to one of those. D’you want me to help set it up?”

“No, actually I was wondering if you’d wanna...uh, walkmedowntheaisle? It’s just I don’t- you’re the most of a parent I’ve really had and it’s fine if you don’t but it would mean a lot.” Ranboo finished, a tinge of red coming to his cheeks.

“Ranboo mate, of course I will. You’re as much my kid as any of them, and if Tubbo needs someone to walk him as well I can make two trips.”

“Really?”

“I’ve been waiting years for one of my kiddos to get married. Wilbur...well, yeah. Techno’s Techno and Tommy is...your age but you know him. Married to the grind.” Ranboo couldn’t help the smile on his face at being referred to as one of Phil’s kids.

“You think 'the grind' got the insurance money when he died?” Techno, who was leaning against the door piped up. Ranboo jumped.

“How long have you been there?”

“Just the marriage bit. Who’s the lucky-er-person.” Techno asked. Ranboo saw Phil maneuver from his spot at the kettle to a cabinet conveniently located between the two.

“Uh me and-me and Tubbo.” The silence hung thick in the air. Ranboo’s heart was hammering, surely loud enough to be heard through the room. Techno hadn’t moved and Phil rolled his shoulders, fluffing out his wings. The movement happened in a blur, Techno surging forward and Phil flailing out, Ranboo hardly processing what had happened.

Techno had their arms wrapped around him in a hug. Phil just barely managed to catch the mug he had knocked off with his wing and was looking at the pair in relief. Ranboo wrapped his own arms around Techno, shoulders sagging from the adrenaline crash.

“You’re not mad?” He asked after a minute. Techno pulled back from the hug, looking at Ranboo incredulously.

“Nah, and I’m sorry you thought I’d react badly. But honestly makes sense. Just- look, Tubbo and I have had our differences but he’s got a good heart. If he makes you happy that’s okay with me. I support you guys.” Techno looked like it pained them to say it. “There goes my street cred.” Phil let out a guffaw that sounded like manic relief and Ranboo smiled.

“Thank you Techno. And I don’t know if I’m pushing it, but I was hoping you’d be my best man?”

“Yeah sure. Is Dream gonna be there?”

“No! Of course not.”

“Good. Don’t want that asshole to see me cry.”

~

The day before the ceremony was approaching quickly. Ranboo and Tubbo recruited their best men and Phil to hand out the invitations to the greater SMP (minus Dream of course) and quite literally everyone had RSVP’d. The ballroom was mostly set up, but Ranboo and Tubbo still found themselves running around like chickens with their heads cut off to make sure it was all in order.

Michael was staying with Foolish until the ceremony, where they’d agreed he would take on the role of both the ring bearer and the flower girl. When they got Techno to relay the news (Turns out Michael's baby babble was piglin- and Techno was fluent and willing to teach him common) they found out he was just as excited as them.

Phil, Techno and Tommy had essentially moved into Snowchester for the time being, each having a room in the mansion and helping get prepared as best they can. Tommy somehow ended up running things, getting together a list of tasks each day for each of them to accomplish. He was redeeming himself quite frankly, proving his respect of their marriage in a quieter way.

So with the absolute grind of Tommy, the determination of Techno and the parental guidance of Philza, Ranboo and Tubbo found themselves sleeping in the day before the wedding, wrapped up in each other's arms as cold sunlight streamed through the window. Tubbo woke up first, and sleepily grabbed his communicator, messaging Tommy.

Tubbo_: do we have to be anywere befor noon
Tommyinnit: NOPE BIG T, EVERYTHING'S TAKEN CARE OF. ENJOY THE DAY :D

Tubbo sighed in relief, turning into a yawn, though he knew he would not be falling asleep again. Tubbo had never once taken a nap, and falling asleep after he had fully woken up was impossible to him. He just took the time to lie with his soon-to-be-even-more-official husband. But Ranboo, ever the light sleeper, was up after the light hit his face, blinking into consciousness and giving Tubbo a sleepy smile. Tubbo pushed his head against his shoulder.

“Morning sleepyhead.”

“Mhm, morning. Are we like, super late right now?” Ranboo queried, voice scratchy and almost incoherent as he continued to wake up.

“Nope. Tommy’s got everything under control. We have the day.”

“Mhm mhm. Can we stay in bed?”

“Yep.” They cuddled back together, and Ranboo was back asleep in a few minutes. Tubbo hummed a tune to himself softly, tracing patterns on Ranboo's back.

Over the course of the quiet day in, Tubbo realized something. This obviously wasn't the first, but definitely wasn’t the last time they would have a day like this; no wars, no grief, no worries, just the two of them (and Michael if he was there, but he was having a good time. Foolish gave him gold to play with) tucked away safely from the rest of the world. He felt giddy at the prospect of permanence; no one had really, truly always been there. There was Tommy, of course, but he was always off on the next adventure, but to have someone for Tubbo himself to come home to? Someone who would go with him to the docks at four in the morning, play a crazy game of hide and seek in the mansion, share a dance with in the ballroom to his Bowie records 'as long as they both shall live'? The idea alone both terrified him and warmed his heart and brought a dopey smile to his face. He headbutted Ranboo gently.

~

“Oi! Ranboo! Get up!”

“Mhm. Why?”
“You’re not allowed to see each other. Don’t freak out but you have a blindfold on.” Ranboo did freak out as he opened his eyes to pitch black. He sat straight up in bed.

“Tommy?!”

“Yep, right here big man. Like I said, a blindfold. Tubbo is asleep, so if you’ll follow me.” He felt hands on his arm guiding him from the bed and out of the room.

“How come Tubbo gets to stay in bed.” Ranboo grumbled, removing the blindfold once the door is shut.

“Because I like Tubbo better than you.” Tommy quipped, wincing for a second when he processed his words, giving a glance of genuine apology. “I shouldn’t say that. Tubbo’s my brother so I have to be nice to him.” Tommy said, patting his back. “I made pancakes, gotta be well fed for your big day.” He said, nodding towards the kitchen.

The pancakes were great, but the state of the kitchen was a bit concerning; there was food wrapped up or in pots on almost every surface. The cake was the centerpiece of it all; it was a fairly traditional wedding cake; three layers with a white cream-cheese frosting; the cake itself was golden carrot cake. Niki had recruited Eret and Fundy to help her get it there, having built a little rolling platform for it. It wasn’t necessarily a huge cake, but it was big enough for 28 people and needed to get from room to room.

Breakfast was a quick affair, taking up only about five minutes before Tommy deposited a list into his hands.

“I was up until three making these, please don’t loose it. This is an hour by hour break down of the day up to the ceremony. For the love of prime, stick to it big man. I’ve gotta go, see you around!” Tommy finished, patting his back and all but running from the room. By his frazzled state you’d think it was his wedding. Ranboo read over the list

Ranboo took note of the current time (around half 8) and decided to make his way to Foolish’s house. He wouldn’t get a chance to see Michael until the ceremony began, so if anything just to give him a final hug.

Foolish’s mansion was brightly lit, as usual, and the man opened the door almost immediately much to Ranboo’s surprise. That is until he held up a piece of paper.

“We’re on the same schedule.” He said, a corny grin on his face. Ranboo chuckled and followed him inside, comparing their various tasks through the day.

Michael was asleep in the guest room, which Foolish had baby-fied long ago for when the child would come over. Ranboo went over, sitting on the bed and placed a hand on Michael’s shoulder. His eyes opened immediately, and he looked around; he was a fairly light sleeper. His gaze trained on Ranboo and he lit up.

“Dada!” He exclaimed, launching into his arms. Ranboo found himself smiling widely.

“Hi Bubba.”

“Foolish gold! See!” He held up a literal totem of undying and Ranboo looked at Foolish in shock.

“He wanted some gold, don’t sweat it kid. I have a lot more where that came from.” Ranboo nodded, relieved. Michael had a tendency not to give back golden items. “What is it Michael?” Foolish prompted from the door.

“Totem of un-dying.” he said matter of factly, piglin accent strong.
“Good job! My smart little guy.” Ranboo said, standing up and twirling the two of them around. Michael squealed in glee. After sitting back on the bed, Ranboo picked up one of the children's books Foolish had on the small shelf, and began to read, Michael curled up in his lap. He was back asleep quickly, and when the hour struck, Ranboo tucked him back into bed. “Don’t let him sleep in too long, we don’t want him up all night.” He said to Foolish, who had been in the rocking chair, working a new totem.

“You got it boss! Now get outta here, you’ve got places to be!” He waved him off with a grin, and Ranboo headed back to the house, where he found Eret and Niki waiting in the hall.

“Ranboo! Good morning, how are you feeling?” Niki asked, going in for a hug.

“Weirdly more nervous than I thought.” He said with a chuckle.

“I’m sure it’ll be fine, wedding nerves are pretty common. It's gonna go great dude!” Eret piped up. They had been an obvious choice for a groomsman; Eret was always kind and welcoming, but they were surprised when he approached them to ask nonetheless.

“Thanks. And yeah, if anything Tommy’s gonna make sure it goes fine.” The group erupted in laughter; everyone who had been around Snowchester had fallen victim to Tommy’s antics.

The group made short work of setting out all the place cards, Tommy having already made a sheet with where everyone would need to sit to not start any wars. Soon enough, with Niki’s flowy cursive and Eret and Fundy’s desire to make everything into a competition, they had finished up, and split up for their allotted break time.

Ranboo got halfway to his study, where he was going to get in a nap, before he was grabbed and dragged into a room, door promptly shut behind him. Startled, he looked to his captor. And promptly covered his eyes.

“Tubbo! We can't see each other, what are you doing?” He hissed. Tubbo's laugh rang out.

“We’re already married dumbass. It cancels out. ” He reached up and pried Ranboo’s hands from his eyes.

“If the marriage fails it’s on you.” Tubbo smiled up at him, nose scrunched up.

“Mhm. Okay.” Tubbo wrapped Ranboo in a hug. They stood there, just rocking back and forth for a moment. Tubbo pushed his head against Ranboo’s chest before pulling back. “Ready to marry me?”
“Yep, Second time’s the charm.”

“You’re gonna fall on your face when you see me on the alter.”

“I- what?”

“Cause I look too damn snazzy in my tux.” Tubbo finished with a wink. Ranboo sputtered, eventually succumbing to the laughter. Tubbo leaned against him, wheezing. “Alright big man, see you at the ceremony? I’ve gotta get to lunch and Tommy’ll have my head if I’m late or seen with you.”

“Alright. Bye Tubbo, love you.”

“Love you too! See you on the alter!” Tubbo called down the hall as he scurried off to lunch. The smile lingered on Ranboo’s face as he continued to his study, still feeling warmed from the hug.

A power nap later, Ranboo headed down to lunch and the task list ran smoothly from there. Luckily Tommy was busy setting up his own things so he only saw Ranboo a few times to interrogate him and make sure he was sticking to the list. Eventually, Ranboo was in a spare room with Techno Niki and Eret, corsages and hair ties and makeup on every surface. Niki and Eret’s dresses were a beautiful shade of lavender, and Techno had swapped their normal blood red cloak for a royal purple one. Ranboo’s tuxedo fit him perfectly, a fancier linen then his normal suit. His tie had been swapped for a purple bowtie, which he was struggling with in the mirror.

“Want some help?” Techno asked, reflection next to Ranboo’s.

“Yeah. I’ve never tied a bowtie. Don’t exactly go to a lot of weddings.” Techno chuckled, and flipped up his collar, reaching up to tie it.

“Here ya go. I can’t explain it well so don’t untie it.”

“Thanks! Where’s you learn how to tie these?”

“Eh, Phil had a date with the goddess of death, wanted to make a good first impression. He taught me so I’d be ready when I ‘found someone’.” Techno rolled their eyes in a joking-not-joking way.

“Ah. Well thanks! And the cloak looks great, matches the corset well.” Techno smiled.

“Why thank you, my student.” Niki came over, hair tie in hand.

“Techno, can you please braid my hair? I can’t do french braids on myself.” Techno nodded and Niki got situated in the vanity chair. Eret was adjusting her makeup in the other mirror, and waved Ranboo over.

“Are you gonna do anything for hair or makeup?”

“Uh, I don’t think so no. Or maybe just like, eyeliner?” Eret nodded, picking up the eyeliner pen.

“Do you want me to do opposite colours, like white on the black side and vice versa?” Ranboo nodded, and tilted his head up. He closed his eyes and tried not to flinch as the cool makeup hit his skin. “Keep still please...and there we go! Have a look!” They said, and when Ranboo opened his eyes she was smiling, admiring her work. Ranboo looked in the vanity. The liner stood out, it wasn’t a full bold wing like Niki wore but it was there, and it looked really good.

“I love it! Thanks Eret.”

“Yeah, don’t mention it! You look stunning.”

“Thank you. I love your dress by the way, and your makeup. You look so swag.”

“Well thank you, dressing for the occasion is one of my specialties.” They said, half spinning around and making the tulle fabric fly out.

“Royalty will do that to ya.” Techno said, flopping onto the bed, reading their notecards (that they hadn’t let anyone see) once more. Niki’s hair was done in an elegant french braid tossed over one shoulder, and she had moved over to do Eret’s much shorter hair into a braid as well, which it just barely fit into. Ranboo would have asked her to do one but he wanted his hair down; he’d never worn a braid and the day to see if he liked them probably wasn’t his wedding day.

“Right how’s it going in here?” Tommy called through the door, knocking loudly.

“Good!” They called out.

“Buzz off Theseus.” Techno called back, and Tommy banged on the door.

“Not your wedding bitch! I’m in charge here. We’re gonna start setting out food in ten, finish up in there please!”

“Not your wedding either.” Techno mumbled once Tommy’s footfall had faded down the hallway, causing Eret and Niki to burst into laughter.

“You’d honestly think it was.” Said Ranboo jokingly. It was both relieving and endearing that Tommy had taken charge.

Once Eret’s hair was done, the group headed to the kitchens, ready to make the final preparations, and the butterflies in Ranboo’s stomach only intensified over the next hour.

~

"Alright lads, what do we think?" Fundy asked, brandishing a forest green suit. "Made it myself." And with his skill from the L'manburg uniforms, Tubbo was not surprised.

"Looking absolutely dapper my man! Ayup Tubbo, y'know how to tie a tie?" Tommy asked, walking into the room and holding up his green tie that matched Fundy's suit.

"I've got you kid, had to do this everyday in office." Quackity said, undoing his own tie to demonstrate the process. Tubbo migrated back over to fundy, having completed his bowtie via a book from the library: Formal wear for beginners.

"You ready to be even more related to me?" Tubbo kicked his chair lightly.

"Neither Ranboo or me are related to Phil."

"Fair, but you both see him as a father figure."

"Doesn't everyone?"

"Fair point fair point." Fundy pulled his cap down over his hair. "So, ready to get married?"

"I'm somewhat nervous but yeah. I'm not like nervous about getting married or Ranboo, just like, messing up my words or falling or shit."

"Hey, still a step up from getting left at the altar." Tubbo tried to hold in his laughter by keeping a straight face before fundy stage whispered "It's okay, you can laugh." And Tubbo wheezed.

"That's very true. I definitely don't think we'll have any of that." He said calming down.

"Yeah. If anything you're the green guy here. Don't balls this up."

"I won't on purpose."

"Tubbo if you mess up my wedding I'll take your last life." Tommy called across the room

"There's something wrong with that sen-tence." Quackity announced in a sing song voice.

"Tommy my beloved, I'm so glad we are finally wedding." Tubbo said in a high pitched drawl.

"Oi! I'm a married man, back off!"

"Send my apologies to Mrs. Grind Innit then." Tommy threw a pillow at Tubbo, and the four engaged in an all out pillow fight, only stopping when Tommy almost broke the lamp and realized the time.

~

The ceremony was about to start, and as the guests had started arriving, by some grace of prime, Tommy had called in a favour from Callaghan to play the piano music, the one thing they had forgotten about, as they walked down the aisle. The man was glad enough to play a bit while the procession got into formation.

Since the day before he had won the rock paper scissors, Ranboo was going to walk down the aisle. They had wanted to do it together, but they’d already asked Phil, and Ranboo felt bad he hadn’t otherwise been a groomsman, so that’s how he ended up pacing in the front garden as Callaghan played a piano cover of ‘Marry you’ while the procession made their way up the aisle. He had seen everyone but Tubbo, Who Tommy had literally covered his eyes for.

First would be, Tubbo and Phil, Tubbo being dropped off at the altar first. Next would be Niki and Fundy, followed by Eret and Quackity, who would take their places near the altar. Then Tommy and Techno, side by side and no doubt trying not to kick each other in the legs. Finally, Michael would walk down, scattering flower petals. He had been entrusted with the gold wedding bands forged by Foolish, as him losing them was highly unlikely. Ghostbur was going to collect him to his seat in the front.

Ranboo could only imagine that was what was happening, as Phil was peeking through the crack in the door. His stomach was doing flips as Phil gave him a teary smile.

“Are you ready? No cold feet?” Ranboo shook his head vehemently.

“Of course not. Just nerves.”

“Alright, well...it’s time.” He said with a final glance inwards. He held out his arm, which Ranboo just barely linked his own through when reaching down. The tune switched to their final wedding song; A piano arrangement of 'Starman'. It was a song they both loved, and they intended to incorporate it somehow. The door opened and everyone in the hall turned to look at the two of them.

For the people who he had fought both against and alongside, he was fairly surprised by just how many smiling gazes were cast upon him. But he only looked over the audience for a few seconds, before catching sight of the altar.

There stood all of his closest friends, his found family, and in the middle of it was Tubbo, beaming at him like all the stars were in his eyes. Ranboo’s cheeks hurt from the giddy smile that filled them by the time they got to the altar, giving Phil a final hug before the man went to his front row seat.

Ranboo walked up the few steps to the landing, past his groomsmen and Techno, who was giving him the proudest look he’d seen. Foolish was smiling fondly at him, and reached up to wipe his eyes with a gold embroidered handkerchief. Ranboo took his place across from Tubbo. Their eyes met, and Tubbo shared a look that carried the same nervous excitement he felt. Tubbo did look very snazzy in the suit though- his green bowtie perfectly done, and even his messy mullet looked smoothed down. Foolish began to speak.

“Hello friends, family, dearly beloved We are all gathered here today to celebrate the matrimony of Tubbo and Ranboo, and open a new chapter in the story of their lives.”

Tubbo and Ranboo, my neighbors and dear friends, almost family, have asked me to ordain their marriage. I’ve prepared a small poem today that I believe will set the tone, called The light of you.”

Before the dawn,
when a candle light is the only source of warmth,
we ask ourselves
‘why’.
For before the dawn,
there is an inexplicable darkness,
deeper than the night
which brought us there.
The candle will be extinguished
by the dew of the day
and it is quiet,
it is cold.
But the time before dawn is quick to fade,
And when you look up
there will be the glowing vfg
Taking the form of you, my love.
of the sun peeking over the horizon,
Heralding the daylight.
The world is quick to bask in the golden light you emit,
You make the damp earth warm to the touch
Make the earth’s heart flutter
The sun will rise, and the sky will see colours again,
painted with a cloud’s soft stroke.
The question is answered;
Why?
To bask in the morning light,
breathe in the dew,
Bathe in your sunlight
and feel alive, and ever so real.

If I have ever met two people who embody the light, it is Ranboo and Tubbo. The sun is rising over them, heeding a new day, marking the start of something beautiful.

If there is anyone who objects to this union, please speak now, or forever hold your peace.” No one said a word.
“Good. Now Ranboo, could you repeat after me?”
“I Ranboo”
“I Ranboo” He repeated, voice strong.
“Do take Tubbo”
“Do take Tubbo”
“To be my lawfully wedded husband.”
“To be my lawfully wedded husband.”
“A best friend and companion through life”
“A best friend and companion through life”
“To have and to hold,”
“To have and to hold,”
“In sickness and in health”
“In sickness and in health”
“In war and in peace.”
“In war and in peace.”
“For better or for worse,”
“For better or for worse,”
“For richer for poorer,”
“For richer for poorer,”
“To love and to cherish,”
“To love and to cherish,”
“Until death do us part.”
“Until death do us part.” Ranboo Echoed surely. He held Tubbo’s gaze, and there was a soft smile marked with love etched onto his face.

“Now Tubbo, if you could repeat after me.” Foolish said, and Tubbo breathed in surely, smile widening.
“I Tubbo”
Foolish began. “I Tubbo” .
“Do take Ranboo”
“Do take Ranboo”
“To be my lawfully wedded husband.”
“To be my lawfully wedded husband.”
“A best friend and companion through life”
“A best friend and companion through life”
“To have and to hold,”
“To have and to hold,”
“In sickness and in health”
“In sickness and in health”
“In war and in peace.”
“In war and in peace.”
“For better or for worse,”
“For better or for worse,”
“For richer for poorer,”
“For richer for poorer,”
“To love and to cherish,”
“To love and to cherish,”
“Until death do us part.”
“Until death do us part.” Tubbo finished. And any qualms Ranboo had about the wedding were gone, because he could feel the love rolling off Tubbo in waves, from the tone of his voice to the look in his eyes.

“Ranboo, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”

“I do” Ranboo had never been more sure of anything. Tubbo beamed.

“And Tubbo, do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?”

“I do.”Ranboo’s heart swelled.

“Ranboo, I’m gonna hand over the altar to you if you have something you'd like to say.” And as they had both decided to do vows, Ranboo pulled his memory book from his pocket, flipping to the very back cover, where he had inscribed this so he could always find it. He cleared his throat and began.

“Tubbo. When I first came to the DreamSMP, or more specifically L'manburg, it was a pile of rubble, quite literally.

It was just after the 16th, and I was alone and had nowhere to go. But among the smoke from the explosion there you were, cigarette in hand walking towards me with that prize winning smile. I think something in me knew just then.

You showed me the history you were a part of, and I watched you take a hole in the ground and rebuild a city with your own hands. And though the city is gone, we're here for a new start, a new chapter of our lives where we will build a home together, four hands joining to create a life all our own.

You make every building we enter feel like a home You can light up any great hall with your energy and your love reverberates through the room. When I'm with you I feel grounded. You are the tether that holds me to earth. Which makes sense since you're so damn short, someone's gotta be close to the ground.” Tubbo scrunched up his nose, and some people in the audience laughed. Tommy snorted.

“But tubbo, you are my foundation, you are my roots and you are my rock. In all senses of the word, truly my person. In the End we had a saying, it's stuck with me all these years, and the common translation is; May our love survive the time when the stars fall. I love you tubbo, through the end and the earth alike.” Tubbo was looking at him in an expression Ranboo could only think to describe as ‘I love you’.

”That was beautiful. Now Tubbo, if you have something prepared?” Foolish said, and Tubbo pulled a piece of paper from his pocket.

“Ranboo, I have a certain memory that comes to mind when I think of our history.

We were rebuilding, and I'd offered to walk you home at sunset. We had always been able to talk like old friends, and I felt so at peace with you, which was something I haven't felt in a long time.

When we got to your door, and I went in for a hug, that's the moment I knew. I felt safe, protected, and this fuzzy feeling bubbling up that I couldn't quite place. And right before we pulled away, you held onto me just a little tighter, and I know I gave you the most bemused look. I went home that day still feeling warm though the winter was approaching and I thought to myself 'this is too good to be true. Something has to go wrong, there's gotta be something" but there never was.

The more I got to know you, I began to see your true colors. You stand up for what you believe in, you are one of the most genuinely kind people I have ever met. And no wonder you're filthy rich, your heart is made of pure gold and big enough to beat for everyone you come into contact with! But you put on silly voices when we tell Michael stories, and you’ll dance with me late at night and place blocks around the house. I feel like the luckiest guy on the server.

We've been together through war and terror, through grief and pain, but I look forward to a life, a family and a future filled with joy and light and love with you, as 'live laugh love' as that sounds. I always thought L'manburg would be my home, but it's you Ranboo, wherever you go is my home.” Ranboo took his own handkerchief that he had kept just in case and wiped the tears that had formed.

“That was lovely.” Foolish said, wiping tears of his own. “Michael, if you could step forward with the rings?” Michael, at the mention of his name, ran up to the altar, and Foolish traded him the totem from yesterday in exchange for the rings. Foolish handed them to the pair of them. Ranboo placed the ring on Tubbo’s horn, and Ranboo leaned down so he could do the same.

“I now pronounce you, husband and husband. May your partnership exist in a thousand lifetimes.” Foolish announced, and in a flash Tubbo had surged forward in a hug. The audience cheered and clapped. Ranboo felt a tug at his leg and looked down to see Michael, smiling brightly at them, and he picked him up, having a family group hug. Tubbo grabbed his hand and Tommy stepped forward to make the announcement.

“ALRIGHT EVERYONE, PLEASE FOLLOW THE FLOWER PATH TO THE BALLROOM FOR RECEPTION!” He called out, and the guests started filing by. Phil, along with the groomsmen stayed behind, giving hugs and congratulating the pair of them.

“Alright, we’re gonna head in. You guys come in right after, and than go to the floor for first dance.” Tommy said, reading from the list in his hand. Eret, Niki, Fundy, Quackity, Foolish, Phil (carrying Michael on his shoulders) Tommy and Techno filed into the ballroom. Tubbo turned to Ranboo, still absolutely glowing.

“You fucking sap.” He said, nudging Ranboo’s shoulder with his head.

“You married me.”

“I did. That was really nice.”

“Yeah.” Ranboo knew the grin he wore matched Tubbo.. “And you call me the sap Mr. ‘luckiest guy on the server.”

“I’ll divorce you right now you dick.”

“You won’t get wedding cake.”

“Hmm. You’re on thin ice.” He said leaning into Ranboo.

“Okay. Well, come on, they’re waiting on us.”Tubbo grinned, lacing their hands together. They pushed open the door to the ballroom where everyone had been seated at the tables. Tommy was standing by the record player with the disc they had mixed all the wedding music onto, and as they made their way to the floor, he put the music on for their first dance.

They had spoken about what they wanted their first dance song to be, and decided on the song they had first danced to after they first got married. The vinyl sputtered ‘Moonage daydream’ to life. Bowie had always been Tubbo’s favorite artist; Wilbur had introduced him to the music back in they pre-L'manburg days, and Ranboo loved it as well.

They swayed, holding each other for a moment before neither of them could keep a straight face, pulling back so their hands were connected instead, dancing that way. Tubbo tried to spin him and it ended with Ranboo almost falling as he tried to duck under his arm and Tubbo letting out a cackle.

“Falling for me I see?” He said.

“Shush.” Ranboo replied. He had honestly not remembered until that moment that everyone was there with them, and realized the corny saying of ‘when I see them the world fades away blah blah blah’ was true.

The pair danced out the song, smiling and laughing their way through, before eventually it faded out and people started clapping. They made their way to their seats.

The table organization had probably been the most difficult part of the wedding, but fell specifically to Tommy. He had made sure no one was anywhere that could risk a conflict, and sent a follow-up to the RSVP’s saying “if you start any fights or mess up their special day in any way I personally will find and kill you.” Tubbo and Ranboo were touched at the sentiment.

The newlyweds sat at a table with their not-family-family; Tommy, Techno, Philza, Michael and Foolish. At the second table, codenamed ‘Feral fam and Puffy’ was, as the name stated, Captain Puffy along with Bad, Skeppy, Sapnap, Quackity, Karl and George. At the ‘Guys being dudes’ table was Sam, Ponk, Punz, Purpled, Callaghan, AntFrost and HBomb. And finally, at ‘The girls the gays and Jack manifold’ table was Eret, Niki, Fundy, Hannah Rose, Ghostbur, Friend (who was given a seat), and of course, Jack Manifold.

The food had been set along tables lining the opposite side of the hall, and Tommy called out for everyone to go and help themselves.

Thankfully, no food fights broke out that day, but Karl got close to starting one by egging on Sapnap. ("Do it! Throw it in my face, you won't!") Bad had stopped them before anything could happen("Sapnap I swear to the Egg, you put that bread down RIGHT now."). Soon enough, everyone had settled back down, and Tommy walked out to the middle of the floor, glass in hand.

“Alright listen up everyone! As best man for my guy Tubbo here, I've been asked to prepare a speech, which I think is a huge honor, thank you man.

I've known Tubbo since...well, honestly I'm not really sure, but we've been attached at the hip for years. Tubbo was there with me when we started L'manburg all the way through doomsday, and now here we are! But somewhere in between that, Ranboo came into the picture. And let me say, at first? Pretty nice guy. But I dunno man, something about him” Ranboo glanced hesitantly to Tubbo who’s smile had dropped to an incredulous look. “....Nah, I'm kidding I'm kidding. I'll admit, I wasn't always too fond of Ranboo, but then I realized it's not because I hate the poor guy. It's because I thought my best friend was being taken from me, and I couldn't bear to lose someone else so close. So I externalized it.

But over the last few months...okay weeks, I've seen how truly happy you two are together. Tubbo fucking lights up whenever Ranboo walks in a room and ranboo looks at Tubbo like he created the universe. Honestly kinda sickening.” Tommy chuckled, and there was a beat of silence where his face dropped, eyes going comically wide.
“No no no no no I didn't mean it like that, I am NOT homophobic! I love the gays! I mean- women! I love women! But the gays, A-okay in my book, LGBT is so poggers-” Ranboo couln’t help the cackle that left him, and Tubbo’s shoulders were shaking trying to hold in his laughter. Techno’s hand was covering theirmouth but their eyes were crinkled and Phil was shaking his head and chuckling.

“What I MEANT to say is that they're sickeningly in love. They're so happy together, but honestly though kudos to them, this seems like the only stable marriage in this world. So here's my toast, to the sickeningly sweet honeys and building their hive!” Everyone in the hall raised their glasses, someone whistling and some clapping, and drank. “I’m gonna pass it off To Ranboo’s best man Technoblade now.” Tommy said. As Tommy returned to his seat, Techno rose, boot heels clacking as they made their way to the floor.

“Let me tell you all a story about a man called Odysseus. Odysseus was a greek hero, he left his wife and newborn son to fight and when he won he cursed the sea, and was swept away for years, embarking on a journey home for 17 years. When he finally got home, he was reunited with his wife and son, and they got their happily ever after.” Tommy looked slightly sick, which Techno had luckily accounted for.

“Now uh, after the last charade I feel like I have to clarify this is NOT me saying I’m sending one of you out to a quest at sea. This circles back to our grooms today because I know that even if they were oceans apart, they would wish on the same stars, they would find a way to see each others reflection through the moon.

When I first met Tubbo back in Pogtopia, he was a scrappy little guy, caught up in a war. A child dressed in a soldier's uniform. But he constantly proved himself to be not only a strong fighter, but incredibly loyal. We’ve had our...quarrels in the past, but I’ve seen him grow into the caring and spunky young man he is today.

Now Ranboo, Ranboo is like my little brother, my apprentice, but most importantly a dear friend. I may not have known him long but he’s always there for me, even for something silly like helping me gather supplies, or something more important like...book club.” Niki caught Ranboo’s eye from where she sat and gave a wink, hiding laughter behind her hand.

“I can always count on him. He truly cares about his people, and would travel to the ends of the earth for those he loves. Now some would look at these two and think how could they ever have the bond they do, but when you get to know them, and especially when you see them together it is obvious. There’s a myth that Zeus saw humans as too powerful, and split them in half, destined to spend their lives searching for the one who makes them whole. Once again, I'm not gonna be splitting anyone in half. Ranboo and Tubbo are not here for a marriage, they are here to celebrate the bond they share with one another, that which people spend lifetimes looking for, and they have found within each other. To Ranboo and Tubbo.” He called out, garnering an echo from the audience. As he was walking back to his seat, Michael babbled something and he stopped, replying in Piglin.

“Hold on guys, Michael has something to say, he wants me to translate.” Ranboo gasped in awe, and grabbed Tubbo’s hand under the table. The recent development of Techno translating for them was something they cherished, being able to know what their son thought.

“Okay, and no one better judge me, I’m gonna quote this kid verbatim.” Techno sighed, but he was smiling. Michael spoke out, and Techno repeated it in common.

“My bee and Boo! Dada and Papa are married, pog! They are happy together and they dance with me and Bee sings and Boo tells me stories. Papa let me hold the ring when Dada proposed, it was pretty! And now they both have more rings! I love you Bee and Boo! And Bee and boo love each other!” Techno looked like he wanted to fall off the face of the earth but still patted Michael on the head. He picked him up and carried him to his seat.

Dinner was a joyful affair. The chatter filling the hall was loud, but it oozed of comfort and ease. People went up to congratulate the couple over the course of the meal, and eventually Niki and Tommy went back to pull out the cake and fresh plates from the kitchen. When they emerged, Niki beckoned them to the cake stand.

“You two get to cut the first piece!” She said, holding out the knife. Ranboo took it, and Tubbo put his hand over his own.

“Ready?” Tommy asked. He was holding a camera. They cut into the first layer of the cake. And as if in slow motion, Tubbo, of all people started the food fight, shoving cake right in Ranboo’s face.

“Tubbo!” He gasped, wiping it from his eyes. The shorter man was cackling, hands on his knees. two can play at that game Ranboo picked up the other half of the piece on the plate and caked Tubbo right in the face. He continued to laugh. Tommy was desperately trying to keep Jack manifold and Fundy away from the cake, the pair ready to start a full fledged cake war.

“I’ll take over cutting it yeah?” Niki said, chuckling as she handed the pair a cloth napkin.

“Thanks Niki.” They said in unison, as they began to wipe the frosting from their faces.

“This is delicious!” Tubbo called over to Niki, eating a chunk from right above his cheek. She just laughed.

The cake did turn out to be absolutely delicious, a hit amongst even the picky eaters of the hall (George, who went and personally complimented Niki’s baking) and after dinner and dessert, the hall made their way to the dance floor.

Their playlist included ungodly amounts of Bowie, Queen and Abba (“It’s my wedding, I get to pick the music!”) as well as some general dancing music via Ranboo and Tommy. The dancing was mostly a blur but a few moments stood out; Captain Puffy absolutely tearing up the dance floor, a slightly intoxicated Philza busting out his time period-specific moves, Tommy and Tubbo’s choreographed piece to Dancing queen no one had been expecting, the extremely awkward second slow dance where Tommy and Techno stood to the side and booed the couples, and Jack Manifold busting out the worm during ‘Lets dance’. It was truly a night to remember, and by the time midnight rolled around and the first people started to leave, it felt like nearly no time had passed since the ceremony.

As the guests began to leave, each bidding a farewell to the grooms and co, a wave of exhaustion seemed to roll in; Tommy was passed out against the record player and Tubbo yawned loudly. They finished their goodbyes to the feral family, who had stayed until the party was over, and headed to bed, leaving clean-up for the morning. Philza hauled Tommy up to his guest bedroom, and Foolish messaged saying that Michael had been sleeping peacefully and he himself was turning in, and to call if anything happened. He had elected to leave early, and thankfully taken Michael with him.

The group walked up the stairs towards the bedroom, cake caked in hair, bowties undone Techno carrying their heels in hand. Tommy was snoring from Phil’s arms. They reached the rooms and mumbled out goodnights, and as soon as they were back to their room, Tubbo crashed onto the bed, luckily picking his face up at the last minute. Ranboo flopped down next to him.

“M’ tired.” Tubbo groaned.

“Same. Come on, at least wash your face.” Ranboo said, hauling Tubbo up. They walked over to the bathroom, grabbing rags and getting the remnants of the dried frosting from their hair. Ranboo returned to the room to throw sleep clothes into the bathroom, and head to the closet to get dressed himself, falling into bed immediately after. A few minutes later the light switched off and Tubbo crawled in beside him, cuddling up to Ranboo. Ranboo ruffled his hair back to it's normal messy state, and he leaned into the touch

“We’re married now.”

“Yep.”

“Let’s never do that again. I'm exhausted and I don’t think Tommy’s heart could take it.”

“Yep.”

“Love you.”

“Love you too.”

“Through when the stars fall?”

“Shut up.”

“You love me really.”

“I do.”

“Ha. Second time today.”

“Mhm.” Sleep came easy to everyone that night.
