Chapter Text
Main character - Felix (3rd person POV following him around)
About – An apocalyptic world full of monsters that take away people’s senses of sound (called Sori Gwemul) where the monster’s only weakness is a certain level of noise, Many people have become used to the world of Sori Gwemul for there have been many inventions that help form life around this monster.
-Headphones were made to block out exterior noise while bringing in noise gathered from internet and constant Bluetooth. Channels were made for communication. Free channels range to 100 ft from it's channel center (portable devices given to essential workers or channel towers). Any number of channels can be formed from a channel center but it's very limited for range and doesn't secure privacy from those around you.
-International channels are channels that can reach anywhere around the world from where you are. These channels need to be bought. International channels (i-Channels) does have a security measure in the form of a passcode that allows for privacy between the ones using the channel. Everything brought in from the headphones however are recorded for government and law enforcements to access.
Backstories:
– As a child, Felix had problems with breathing. He got stressed out easily which lead to rapid breathing that increased his pulse by a deadly amount. If he was relaxed, his breathing would slow down to a point that he would barely breathe. This problem had an unknown cause but somehow had it’s own medicine. The medicine in questioned helped control blood flow so even with the irregular breathing, his body would automatically slow down or speed up his breathing. He was scared about his first appointment which was a checkup to see if his body was acceptable of the drug (by taking blood and watching how the medicine reacted to it), then surgery for the device that will help to warn Felix if his blood pressure is incontrollable. If the device ever goes off, Felix has to breath in a certain pattern. The way he remembers the pattern is by a song one of his sisters always blasted around the house. There was one part that had the pattern (Du Du Du Du Du Du in God’s menu but not from God’s menu…). Sometimes, if Felix takes too long to control his breathing, he has a headache that starts small but gradually grows worse. The device is a special bracelet (on left wrist) that controls the flow of the drug through the veins in the wrists (the drug never evaporates, it’s a constant in his body. Almost like another kind of chemical that was meant for the body).
– Jisung went to the same school as Felix and was in a couple of his classes but they never talked to each other. He never saw the bullying Felix went through because of his illness and how he had to deal with it. He rarely ever socialized with people, therefore he always tried to isolate himself away from where most people were, and that happened to be around Felix, but Jisung never realized that. He was always a little nervous and shy around people he didn’t know well because he was always afraid of how others viewed him. He started becoming an over-thinker. Many saw his over-thinking as him being smart and analytical so he always had to pressure of being the smart one. When he was younger and took singing lessons, he meet Changbin who later introduced him to Chan. Even though Jisung went to a different school than both of them, they quickly became a tight group.
– Hyunjin goes to school with I.N. He had a lonely childhood. He was always popular because of his looks, even as a kid, but all his friends were never real. He also never had any siblings to tease him or go on fun trips with. When I.N. came into the school as a freshman, Hyunjin quickly became friends with the younger and the two formed a brotherly relationship. Hyunjin meet Minho when Jeongin invited him out to meet the older and the two got along well enough to be invited back. The three became close quickly and when Minho introduced him to his “presence” friend, the four stayed pretty tight with each other.
– Jeongin (I.N) has always been seen as the happy innocent kid. Many hung out with him for his sweet attitude that would “infect” people. He was fine with it but all the attention for just his smile kind of dampened his expectations of himself. The only person who he trusted enough to not hide his smile from was his neighbor Minho. The two were pretty close so when Jeongin moved before starting High School, the two tried to keep in touch as much as possible. The two would also meet up at a halfway point where they would tell stuff that only had an impact if it was in person. Jeongin decided to bring Hyunjin after he realized he saw the older as a brother. When he saw how Minho didn’t hate Hyunjin right away, Jeongin decided to keep bringing Hyunjin along and was happy to see the two growing closer.
– Changbin had experienced what the Sori Gwemul is first hand. (Friends with Han and Chan). He was traumatized from the attack so his family decided to move to a different area. A few days after the move, Chan moved close to them, so Changbin saw that as his opportunity to make a new friend. To help his trauma, his parents put him in singing lessons where he meet Han. He decided to bring his two closest friends together and the three have been close ever since. Changbin like to help Chan when needed but he would always goof around to lighten everyone’s mood. It helped with pushing away his fear and trauma. Later, Chan recommended using his trauma in his favor. He started to learn more about technology and studied the Sori Gwemul and tried to combine both his knowledge to find a way to help the world. He started altering the headphones and created very small weapons to fight off the monster. When Han and Chan found out, they were against such extremes at first but decided to help out when they saw how determined Changbin was. Changbin also met Seungmin online when he was learning about technology and programing. They exchanged ideas over a secret severe until they both decided it was time to meet. The two then introduced all their friends together and formed their little group.
– Bang Chan leader (Friends with Han and Changbin). He meet Changbin when he moved from Australia to Korea. They became good friends very quickly. Chan was always the responsible type and always seemed to put others before himself, even if he didn’t want to. It was like a reflex. When Changbin introduce Han to Chan, the three hit it off and became really close. Han was seen as the little brother, Changbin as the older brother who sometimes liked to goof off, and Chan as the Dad who always cleaned up after the three with a smile and jokes all along the way. When he meet all the kids, they all seemed to know his roll and always looked to him for advice or to take charge when needed. He never backed down from the roll and did his best to bring the 6 closer than the other’s thought possible.
– Seungmin has always been the quiet type. When asked a question, he would give a simple answer. People thought he was just anti-social and shy but that wasn’t it. He just didn’t care enough to engage in society. The people that did know him more than the average person always talked about how “mature” he was for his age. At first, he was kind of proud of that, but over the years, he came to realize the double meaning of that phrase. He never enjoyed normal things as a kid. He never waisted his energy on things he new were useless. People saw that as mature. And it was. But he realized it also meant he grew up to fast. He never got to enjoy a childhood and that’s no one’s fault but his, or so he thinks. Seungmin knew Minho from some club activities outside of school. They never talked much but they always hung around each other when they were placed in the same room as each other. While he was bored one day, he went online and met Changbin. The two worked well together and Seungmin was curious on who he was. After a couple in-person meetings, Seungmin introduced his friends to Changbin and met Changbin’s friends in return. His parents are also rich and bought like 5 international channels so that helps.
– Minho lived a hurtful life. Everything said to him was sugarcoated so when reality came to him, it hurt, every time. He wasn’t rich, but he wasn’t poor. He was spoiled as a kid and at first, he liked it. But he started to hate how there was never any limits placed on him. Whenever he asked something that “was to dangerous to know,” everyone around him told him sweet lies to make the world seem like a beautiful place. Every time he found out the truth, he hurt, but not because of the truth. Because he wasn’t trusted with it. He didn’t like being shielded from the world. He felt that if he got shielded from all the hurtful things in the world, he wouldn’t be able to grow strong enough to beat the bad things if he’s ever faced with it. He started becoming someone who was sarcastic, throwing back the obvious lies in people faces. If he cares for someone, he will give them hard truths, thinking it would help them get stronger. Minho really only kept one friend. His old neighbor, Jeongin, always brightened his days so when the younger boy moved, Minho tried to keep in touch with the younger as much as possible. His parents put him into clubs outside of school where he met Seungmin. Minho didn’t really care to socialize, and he realized Seungmin didn’t either, so the two hung around each other and soon got comfortable and used to the other’s presence.
