Luther’s daemon doesn’t settle.
They watch as each of his siblings’ daemons settle and they leave home, until only Luther and Athena remain. They wonder why anybody’s daemon would want to settle, when they already have the freedom to be any shape they like.
Then, one day, they have their accident.
Luther is blinded by pain, near unconscious, but he holds on, desperate not to let Athena’s flickering form dissipate completely.
Looking at his deformed body afterwards, he can suddenly see the appeal in knowing just who you are.
But it takes the 60s for Luther before Athena finally settles.
