"She's here?!"
If it wasn't for the situation they had just found themselves in, it was almost comical how quickly the men pulled their wives/girlfriends to them at hearing the news that Morgause had arrived in England. Not that Morgana could blame them as she was holding her children close as well, her mind going a hundred miles an hour. "Well, not here exactly. But yeah, she's in England. She may have taken a plane here, but we just sensed her arriving." She said
"But won't Morgause sense you too? Or sense that we're all together?" Sapphira asked in a very tiny voice as she clung onto her mother, both her and Melody trembling in fear at hearing their aunt was now in England. "Ssssssshhhhhhh." Morgana first hushed her precious girls as she kneeled down, trying to make sure they didn't panic and caused a magical outburst like what had happened to Harry a few times when he was stressed or upset.
"No, sweetheart. She won't sense our magic or that we are all together. The wards around Camelot will keep her from that." She assured them, cupping their faces to try and comfort them. They relaxed just slightly at this as they leaned into her touch "Probably doesn't mean that she won't connect the dots between no one knowing where "Lily and Harry Evans/Morgan" live, the fact that multiple people in Knockturn Alley just "disappeared" several years ago and now won't tell anyone where they live or the emotional significance of this very place to you." Harry then muttered
He said this in a rather pessimistic tone, his hand tightly gripping his father's arm as he was incredibly freaked out by this unexpected turn of events as well, Merlin having one hand on his back to try and keep him calm before he made any windows around them burst once again. 'And then to think we were laughing and having fun just a few minutes ago. Thanks a lot, Morgause.' He thought as he looked at all the scared faces around him
Hell, Draco was still wearing his Dumbledore costume as his father pulled him, Narcissa and Amalthea close to him, knowing they were really in the endgame now. Weeks of rehearsal to cheer his sisters up, a few minutes of genuine fun and laughs and then his aunt just comes along and ruins it all. His mother looked at him, having preferred him not to say that in front of his already terrified sisters, but knowing he was completely right as well.
She then looked at her young, innocent daughters again and made sure they looked her right in the eyes to see her complete honesty and determination to keep them all safe and protected as she said the next words. "She won't be able to get through the wards we set up here or those at Hogwarts. We'll all be safe. I promise." She whispered to them both as she pulled them close and her daughters immediately hugged her back. Hermione silently joined her boyfriend as well and grabbed his hand, him quickly squeezing it in return
"So much for a fun performance to make your sisters laugh." She muttered and he quickly pulled her closer, kissing her temple to try and comfort her as well. He was just as scared as they all were. Death Eaters were normal wizards who either had no morals or were forced to do terrible things like Lucius during the first war and Pansy and her mother last year. They were dangerous and at times even unhinged, but not really a challenge to the immortals
Even those who had been given his aunt's mark and had been stronger than a regular wizard had still been able to be killed by aurors and Riddle only had one horcrux left as far as they knew. Salazar had told them that if he split his soul one more time, he'd dissolve as his soul would be too unstable to even sense things, but they had the feeling that Morgause had warned him of that as well. Still, he was only a man, albeit one with a mutilated soul
This? This was a truly immortal and extremely powerful dark witch with a cold and harsh vengeance streak that he was pretty sure could loop itself around the world three times at the very least and could actually give his maternal grandfather a run for his money and that was honestly saying something. She was just as powerful as his mother at least and the last time she, his father and the other immortals had fought her, they hadn't managed to kill her at all but had merely managed to drive her of for a few centuries. Until now.
He then looked at his uncle and the other knights to see how they were reacting to this news. After all, they had fought Morgause when she had begun to be a threat to all who lived in Camelot and now, she was back once again.Leon, Elyan and Gwaine already looked angry and ready for a fight. Ready finally defeat her once and for all so she wouldn't bother them again, but Lancelot and Arthur? They looked positively murderous.
Lancelot was breathing very deeply and harshly as he clung onto Fleur, who in turn was clutching onto his shirt with one hand and had her wand in the other, eyes scanning their surroundings for any immediate threat. Even if her logical mind told her they'd be perfectly safe as Morgana had told her daughters, her instinct told her to protect her mate from the one who had used him to hurt his friends once before.
Lancelot then rested his head against hers to try and calm them both down and she let go of his shirt and cupped his face instead once she was done with her silent perusal of their surroundings, gently whispering things to him that he couldn't hear as she nuzzled his face, his breathing slowly calming down as he pulled her closer to him. It was clear that he needed her as he remembered what Morgause had done to him in his past life. Quickly deciding not to watch the clearly personal moment, Harry turned to his uncle and immediately gulped in fear.
Arthur's face was absolutely thunderous as he seemed to stare right at Harry, yet seemingly not seeing him as he was probably busy imagining seven different ways to finally get Morgause to either pay for what she did to his sister and friends, die a horrible death or preferably both, Gwen right at his side and having a very cold look on her face too. 'Is that face the last thing uncle Arthur's enemies saw when facing him in battle?" He sent to Hermione
She looked as well and paled at seeing the same thing. "I'd wet myself if I had to face him while he had that look on his face." She immediately admitted and his lips twitched as he knew that this was not the time to laugh. "What do we do now?" He then finally asked as he looked around the group. Everyone shared looks at this question. They had known this day would come, but now that it was here, they found himself at a complete loss on what to do now
If there was one thing certain about Morgause, it was that you never knew what she was planning to do next. "We'll train. Everyone from Hogwarts school age. We'll learn as many defensive spells as you can remember and as much as your core can handle. Squibs are going to learn how to use muggle weapons. I refuse to let anyone here become a victim." Morgana decided as she finally stood up from her place in front of her daughters and grabbed their hands instead. Melody and Sapphira still clung onto her and she squeezed their hands
They were both counting on her. Her son and his friends were counting on her. Everyone was counting on her and she would not let them down. She was not going to let anything bad happen to her precious children. Morgause would not get to them. She'd protect them until her very last breath. Everyone immediately nodded in agreement before they went home to really think about things and stay close to their families, good mood completely ruined
For the next one-and-a-half month or so, they trained and practised defensive and offensive strategies for people of almost every age who wanted to learn and that every day. Morgana obviously knew that most of the children were very likely of no interest to Morgause apart from her own three children and perhaps her son's friends, but she refused to let people feel helpless when she could do something to help them defend themselves from any danger
Around the mid of July, there was another Wizengamot meeting, Morgana having taken her own seat to help make laws to even hold Morgause off even a little bit. She had done this knowing the risks and it seemed these risks were appearing now. She was walking out of the room after the meeting and immediately sensed five people going after her. "Five." She sent to her husband who was following them in turn. "Yup." He sent back. "Doomed." She grinned. "Really are." He agreed. "Poor bastards." She sighed, before waiting until they were in an abandoned corridor
Aurors soon rushed to the corridor only several minutes after that when alerts of deadly spells being used went off, only to find several unconscious or dead death eaters lying on the ground, their sleeves ripped to show their dark marks. There was no sign of those who they had fought, but Kingsley did find some ash on the carpet. Thinking nothing of it, HD quickly went to put the still alive death eaters behind bars, so they could be interrogated
Back in Camelot, both Morgana and Merlin hugged their children. The fact that those death eaters had tried to attack the holder of the Le Fay seat, even if they didn't know it was the lady Morgana herself really showed how bold they were becoming and they didn't like it. Morgana closed her eyes as she held her children. Soon, it would be her son's seventeenth birthday and he'd officially be an adult. She hoped at least that would go well.
One more happy day. Could they at least have that?
