King idly poked at his eggs and bacon. He was very grateful for the food, but deep down he had a pit in his stomach and he wasn't really that hungry.
He thought- rather foolishly- that this would be the journey to finally see his family. At least finally see his dad. And... he supposed the worst point wasn't even that he was going to be used as a ritual sacrifice. It was knowing that he was truly alone.
He looked at Luz across the table, eating with Hooty. She managed to pack her feelings a lot less obviously, but they were siblings. He could pick up on things. Luz was not happy.
"How's the grub?" he asked.
"Oh, it's good!" Luz nodded, biting into a piece of bacon. "Tastes a little more... chicken than what I'm used to for bacon, but..."
"Heh. You humans have such weird animals over there, huh?" he said, looking off into the Boiling seas.
"You okay?" asked Luz.
"You know I'm not." King replied.
"Right..." Luz sighed. "I'm guessing you don't want to talk about it right now."
"Well, you're not wrong about that," King chuckled. "We can talk about it when we get home."
Luz nodded, her mouth full of eggs.
King took a deep breath. "You're really going to go back, right?"
"I... don't know. We're out of Titan's Blood, we have few allies, who knows what else Belos has planned..." grunted Luz as she rested her head on her hand.
"Weh..." King squeaked. "Luz, that's quitter's talk. Besides, we have tons of Titan's Blood right here." he said, pointing to himself.
"I thought you didn't want me to leave." Luz said, looking over to him.
"No... but like I said, I know how this works."
The Boiling Titan loomed in the distance. "Well, at least mom- I mean, Eda, will still be here for you. You don't have to chose between family anymore, that's good, at least..."
"Right... yeah." King said, conflicted over how he really felt about that. He bit into an egg yolk and quickly finished it up.
"I'll be there too!" Hooty excitedly added. King nervously scratched at his skull. What did he really want from all this, now that he knew what he knew?
Who else knew? He shuddered to think what Belos might do if he was aware there was a baby Titan this entire time.
