Chapter Text
“RAPHAELLA PUT THAT DOWN!” Jonny yelled, snatching the large bag of flour out of her hands.
“What?” she squeaked, shrugging “I just needed to use the flour!”
“So don't hold it above your head like you're throwing a field ball!“ Jonny sighed, putting the bag of flour down on the heavy wood table.
Marius snickered, as he kneaded the bread dough for their honey rolls. He looked over at Ashes, who was holding their breath trying not to giggle while they were frosting a set of cake doughnuts.
Jonny sighed and turned back and pulled a tray of yeast donuts from the oven.
“So Marius,” Ashes smirked, the four had only known each other for about…..three months at that point, and most of that time was spent on getting everything open, and now that it was open they could fill everyone in, “what did you do before meeting Jonny and joining in on the bakery?”
“Oh uh.” Marius rubbed the back of his neck, trying to find a good way to say, ‘My lover and I were interdimensional thieves, “...Banking, I had to move around a lot and Lyf and I wanted some peace and quiet for once.”
“Oh nice,” Ashes nodded
“What about you Ashes?” Raphaella smiled politely and Ashes had a mini crisis,
“I worked in a casino.” they answered, not quite knowing how to answer without being really suspicious, Raphaella?”
“Oh, I worked in a science lab!” She smiled, not mentioning the fact it was Her science lab and she was experimenting with some weird shit, “It got a bit too stressful and baking is a little less so!”
“Well you fuckers are stressing me out.” Jonny snickered, pulling a cake from the oven, “if your wonderin, I worked at one of those chain boxing rings, but after a while it got boring so I did this thing.” Jonny gestured to the oven and kitchen set up.
“Nice,” ashes smirked, as they put the finishing touches on their glazed yeast doughnuts, “well, I'm all done, so i'm free head home, right?”
“Yup, see you later, Ashes.” Jonny grinned and waved them off.
Slowly, Raphaella and Marius left as well, leaving Jonny to himself.
Jonny smiled, leaning back and stretching his back before his servers arrived.
His phone rang and he answered,
“Hello?”
“Hey Jonny,” Nastya cooed over the phone, “How's it going?”
“Pretty good, just finished up all the baking, how was your night?”
“Real good, finally got the program done so I'm finally resting at home with the cat .” Nastya purred, and it took Jonny all the effort in the world not to snicker at the code words.
“Nice, how bad did the coding kick your ass?”
“Oh my god it was so bad.” she laughed, “so you'll be home soon?”
Jonny flipped the switch on the oven off, “yup, just finishin’ up here.”
“Sweet.”

“Lyf?” Marius smiled, as he poked his head into their bedroom.
Lyfrassier was still asleep, wrapped in a pile of blankets and pillows across the shared bed.
“Aw.” Marius smiled and slipped back into bed, burying his face into lyfs chest,
“Hey luv,” lyf hummed, burying their face into his hair, “welcome home.”
“Good to be back,” Marius smiled,
Lyf giggled, “You smell like bread.”
“I do?”
“It's nice.” lyf hummed as the pair drifted to sleep.

“BRIAAAAN!” Raphaella sang as she kicked the apartment door open.
The eponymous cyborg jumped, nearly flinging himself out of their chair, before clutching their chest.
“Gods above Raphaella don't do that to me!” Brian half laughed, running his metal hand through his hair.
“Sorry dude!” Raphaella smiled, before splaying herself over her roommate's lap, “But I wanted to make sure you were awake.”
Brian sighed, “yeah i'm awake, how was work?”
“Fun!” Raphaella smiled, “did you know that in high quantities Flours 35 times as combustible as gunpowder?”
“That it is,” Brain began to play Raphaella’s hair, “also, Ivy sent over those samples you needed.”
“Yes!” Raphaella pumped her arm, “god this will be an awesome experiment!”
“As long as you don't break anything…” Brian smirked, “including the fabric of space time.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Tim, are you awake?” ashes poked their head into the hallway, and Tim appeared from the bathroom, his long hair officially a new shade of brown.
“Uhhh.” Tim blinked, “welcome home Ashes!”
“So is this a “I'm having a mental breakdown” hair dye, or a “we are actively on the run” hair dye.” Ashes sighed, placing their bag on a coat hook.
“Yes?” Tim shrugged, before sighing and leaving the bathroom,joining them in the kitchen/living room, “How was the bakery?”
“It was pretty good, I got to knead bread and frost stuff pretty much all night, so,” Ashes shrugged, pulling an iced coffee from the fridge.
“Nice,” Tim smirked, as he draped himself over the counter, “Anyone cute?”
“Pfft,” Ashes laughed, they hadn’t told their bodyguard much about their coworkers, “For me or for you?”
“For me, obviously!” Tim pushed himself on top of the counter and rolled onto his back, “I know you're loyal!”
Ashes laughed to themselves, as they gently played with their old oak leaf necklace.
“Missing Ulysses?” Tim asked,
“A Little bit,” Ashes sighed, before taking a swing of their coffee, “But they’ll be around the moment the Vault job is finished.”
“Exactly!” Tim smiled, sitting up, “so, cute people?”
Ashes laughed, “Well, Marius’s got a partner, and Raphaella seems to have…something going on with someone named by the name of Ivy, But D’ville!”
The pair laughed,
“But seriously, Jonny seems to be single and he looks like,” ashes fished their phone from their pocket, and showed Tim a picture they took when they first opened the bakery, where Jonny was smiling proudly at the front door of the bakery, his hair pushed back and face seared with powdered sugar. The sun rose behind him and he was cast in blueish light,
“oooOOOOOooo,” Tim purred before snickering, “God I gotta meet your friends soon.”
“Listen, they are Not my friends.” Ashes corrected, taking a sip of their coffee,
“How many times have you guys got coffee together?”
“That's work related!” ashes retorted.
“Sure,” Tim snickered, before yawning, “well, I'm going to bed.”
"Yeah why were you even up at 3 in the morning?” Ashes asked, as Tim turned and rushed off,
“Good night Ashes i'll see you in the morning!” Tim said rather quickly as he sped back to his bedroom.
“Wait,” Ashes sighed and rubbed their face as he disappeared from view.
It was…an odd situation to be sure. A mob boss and their clusterfuck of a bodyguard living in an apartment together as they wait for the heat to get off them, but they made it work. Ashes worked night jobs while Tim ran errands and kept the small apartment clean.
Ashes leaned back and twisted, cracking their back before killing their coffee off and heading to bed.
