Jay was melting.
Heatwaves weren't uncommon in Ninjago, unfortunately. They got at least one around every summer, so that meant that for a solid week or two, if you happened to go up to the monastery, you'd see five of the ninja all sprawled about on any cold surface possible, in the least amount of clothes possible. Zane and Pixal were nindroids luckily, so they didn't exactly feel heat like the rest of the ninja, but unfortunately they weren't completely immune either. The amount of times Jay has had to repair a shorted circuit or five are far too numerous for his liking. Case in point, heatwaves were miserable, and Jay was experiencing one right now.
He was sitting on the couch, trying not to die when he suddenly remembered that they had a fridge. And a freezer. A freezer that was full of popsicles at the moment. He decided to take this opportunity to go get one, hoping that it would relieve some of this awful heat from his body. He got up from the couch slowly and groggily, shuffling his way into the kitchen, fully expecting to just go grab a popsicle, and move on with his day.
Until he saw Cole negotiating with the fridge.
"Dude-"
"No."
"You can't stay in there forever-"
"I'll leave this fridge when I'm dead."
"Kai don't be difficult."
"Don't be annoying."
"You're acting like a child."
"And you're acting like you want me to DIE!"
"You're not going to die if you leave the fridge."
"YES I WILL!!"
"Don't shout."
"I'LL SHOUT ALL THE FUCK I WANT!!"
"Language."
"Bitch."
"Bastard."
Jay got his answer. "So it's gonna be one of those days huh?" He said flatly, merely watching on.
Zane sighed and nodded. "Kai decided to lock himself in the fridge again. Cole's been trying to coax him out," He stated bluntly.
"Ah," He merely said, before hopping up on the counter to watch this whole thing unfold. "Well he is the master of fire, so of course he did. Any luck?"
"Cole's been at this for 90 minutes now."
"Great," Was all he muttered, before turning his attention back to the scene. They were in for a treat.
Cole sighed and shook his head. "Kai, come on, you can't stay in the fridge forever. We need to make dinner eventually."
"Then starve."
Jay couldn't help but giggle at that. "Shit Kai, ease up would ya? It's just a heatwave, we're all miserable." He teased lightly.
Kai snapped his head over to look at Jay. "Listen you walking power outage, not everyone in this house has a natural body temp of ONE HUNDRED AND FUCKING TWELVE DEGREES so I think I've earned the right to be a little pissy, don't you think? I'm not getting out of this fridge and if you try I'll melt your face off."
Cole rolled his eyes in exasperation. "Kai quit with the tough guy act and just get out of the fridge. Please, the longer I hold this door open the more cold air that's gonna escape."
"Exactly so close the door, and let me be!"
"Gotta get out first bro."
"NO!"
"Kai get out of the fridge."
"MAKE ME!!"
"Do you really wanna go down that road with me?"
Zane chuckled lightly. "He has a point Kai. He has super strength. You most likely weigh about as much as a bag of grapes to him. Just get out of the fridge dear,"
"NO! The only way you're gonna get me out of this damn fridge is in a BODY BAG!! I'm not fuckin LEAVING!!"
It took another two hours to get Kai out of the fridge.
