2022 Haiku Writing Month Poems

Summary:

All the haiku I wrote for Haiku Writing Month 2022.

Notes:

I wrote these pieces back in February of 2022 as February is National Haiku Writing Month. I wound up starting rather late into the month, so I only managed to write 21 haiku rather than 28.

Work Text:

Teeth Cleaning

Polishing your teeth,

Whether you like it or not,

Until they sparkle.

Elegance

White gloves, silk top hat,

And a classy tuxedo,

A true gentleman.

A Painful Procedure

“Yes, it will hurt,” says

The dentist to the patient.

The drilling begins.

Melt

Melting snow

Creates a sweet scent in the air

On a dreary day.

Snowstorm

The wind howls

And rattles the windows

While blowing snow.

Ice

The bitter cold air

Turns water into sheets of glass.

Don’t slip and fall!

Seeds

Birds peck for seeds

Along the snow-covered ground,

Surviving the winter.

Silk

The smooth silk

Caresses against my skin.

It’s soft and stylish.

Mud

Sloppy mud

From melted snow in the ground,

All over my boots.

War

Bombs dropping,

Raining death on those below --

Tears and agony.

Blanket

The ground is covered

By a fluffy white blanket,

Although cold, not warm.

Time

Seconds, minutes, hours,

Days go by in an instant.

Where has the time gone?

Rose

Beautiful petals

Like a fancy ball gown,

Dangerous to hold.

Sadistic

Screams of agony

Are like music to my ears,

Watching you suffer.

Chess

Pieces on a board

Try to conquer each other.

Hark! The king is dead.

Gas Mask

Respirator filters

Protecting from harmful gas.

I look so badass!

Music

Pretty melodies

From musical instruments

Flow through the air.

Tired

Stayed up late again.

I need stronger will power

For going to sleep.

Cozy

A nice warm blanket

Wrapped all around my body,

A mug of warm tea.

Piano

Black and white keys play

A beautiful melody

In a concert hall.

Suit

Dress shirt and necktie

With matching pants and jacket,

Formal and stylish.
