Three-Star Holiday

Summary:

“So this is the star system you’d thought we should… ah, run away to… during Armageddon?” Aziraphale asked as the rocket-fitted Bentley drove towards their selected holiday location.

Notes:

For the December Fluffbruary prompt "star"!

Work Text:

“So this is the star system you’d thought we should… ah, run away to… during Armageddon?” Aziraphale asked as the rocket-fitted Bentley drove towards their selected holiday location.

“Alpha Centauri, yep. Technically, it’s three stars. Looks like two unless you’re up close, though.” The car stereo took up Ride the Wild Wind, singing the lyrics in the windless void of space. Crowley patted the Bentley admiringly on the dashboard. “But they’ve got some five-star planets. You’ll see.”

“I am looking forward to seeing them.”

“Looking forward to showing you.” Crowley let go of the steering wheel to take Aziraphale’s hand.[1] His voice was softer when he spoke again. “It’ll be a lot more fun this way, I think.”

The angel’s hand, linked with Crowley’s, exerted a gentle pressure. “This way?”

Crowley nodded, gazing out the window as they approached the foreign suns that were their destination.

“Knowing that, when we’re ready, we can come back home.”

1 Letting go of the steering wheel while driving is a terrible idea, very dangerous for road safety. However, there are no roads in outer space, so road safety was impossible. And, fortunately, the Bentley could find her own way.[return to text]

Thank you for reading! Comments are a gift like no other. (Except possibly a spacefaring Bentley.) Take care.
